Republicans are waiting to see if Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will enter the GOP presidential race.
The answer is coming sooner than many people think.
And now Ron DeSantis just revealed something surprising about Donald Trump and 2024.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gave a preview of how he planned to take on Donald Trump in the presidential primary during an appearance on Fox News Channel.
DeSantis plans to follow a strategy of praising Trump where possible while drawing subtle contrasts with Trump and avoiding insulting or directly criticizing Trump.
In the interview DeSantis admitted that Trump’s endorsement was critical to overcoming the establishment favorite in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial primary and then the general election.
“[Trump’s] endorsement was the big enchilada,” DeSantis began. “Our voters want to look at you, and they size you up, and they take this responsibility very, very seriously.”
But without naming Trump or directly attacking Trump’s performance in office DeSantis stated that during his first four years as governor, DeSantis never had staffers leaking to the media or undermining his agenda.
“We had personnel working for us who believed in the mission and anybody who didn’t, if anyone tried to leak or do anything, we got rid of them,” DeSantis added.
DeSantis explained that even if you had the best set of policy portfolios, unless you had a loyal staff committed to your vision, you could never fulfill the promises you made out on the campaign trail.
“For the last four years, I didn’t have a single leak in my administration,” DeSantis continued. “You could have the best vision in the world, make the best decisions as the executive – if you don’t have people that will carry out that and implement it, then it’s not gonna amount to very much.”
DeSantis told Fox News viewers that once he decided on the policy his staff executed the play as it was called and achieved success which improved the lives of Floridians.
“So, when I would come out and announce our next step, people can take it to the bank that would be executed quickly and the results would follow,” DeSantis concluded.
Donald Trump’s time in office was marred by a series of RINOs working in the administration who constantly leaked to the press to undermine Trump’s America First agenda.
One of the worst examples was low-level Department of Homeland Security staffer Miles Taylor.
Taylor wrote an anonymous op-ed in The New York Times — which the Times falsely claimed was from a senior official in the administration — about how Trump aides would directly undercut Trump’s plans to tear up globalist trade deals or pull troops from overseas deployments.
Other establishment Republicans in the administration who spent their time trying to undermine Trump’s agenda were Secretary of Defense James Mattis — who slow-walked Trump’s orders to ban transgender soldiers — John Bolton, Elaine Chao — the wife of Mitch McConnell — and Mattis’ successor as Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper.
In one particularly galling episode Trump ordered the withdrawal of troops from Syria to end Barack Obama’s pointless war in that country and Syrian Envoy Jim Jeffrey — who signed a Never Trump letter in the 2016 campaign — admitted to lying to senior officials about how many troops remained behind after Trump gave the withdrawal order.
Ron DeSantis — without naming Trump — wanted to deliver the message that if he is president such insubordination and leaking will not happen because he will put together a team that believes in his vision for America.
