The anti-Trump Republicans are gearing up for their final stand.
Trump is taking incoming from a surprising source.
And Megyn Kelly attacked Donald Trump and you won’t believe why.
In many ways, Megyn Kelly was the star of the fourth GOP presidential debate.
An actual conservative asked actual questions that Republican voters care about.
However, it was after the debate where Kelly made the biggest wave.
Polls show Joe Biden’s biggest vulnerability is his age and the fact that voters can see he’s senile.
The GOP establishment is trying to turn that attack on Donald Trump.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s central attack on Trump in the closing weeks of the campaign is the claim that Trump’s succumbing to old age and is suffering from cognitive decline similar to Joe Biden.
In an interview with The Blaze’s Glenn Beck, Kelly doubled down on the false claim that Trump’s mental faculties are not up to snuff.
“Yeah, I do,” Kelly said in response to a question from Beck on if she agrees with DeSantis that Trump is too old to be president. “I mean, I’d take him over Joe Biden any day of the week. I don’t think he’s going to, you know, fill out this term, never mind a second. But there’s no question Trump has lost a step- or multiple steps.”
Kelly seized on the fact that Trump made one or two slip-ups in the course of his normal 90-minute to two-hour-long rally speeches to baselessly claim that Trump is in cognitive decline.
“He is confusing Joe Biden for [Barack] Obama. I know he’s now saying he intentionally did that; go back and look at the clips. It wasn’t intentional, it was very- Look, any of us could have a slip of the tongue, but it’s happening to him repeatedly. The reference about how somebody is going to get us into World War Two, confusing countries, confusing cities where he is, and it’s happening more and more. With all due respect to Trump: This is what happens when you’re 77 years old. Trump seems inhuman, but he’s not inhuman. He’s a human. He’s a man. DeSantis’s line about Father Time spares no one was a good one. So, look, if it’s between Trump and Biden, I don’t think there’s any question who’s more fit and more capable. But are we really going to pretend that Donald Trump is just as vibrant and mentally sharp as he was in ’16?” Kelly concluded.
Trump responded to these smears on Truth Social where he explained he was being sarcastic and the media was intentionally lying about him.
“Whenever I sarcastically insert the name Obama for Biden as an indication that others may actually be having a very big influence in running our Country, Ron DeSanctimonious and his failing campaign apparatus, together with the Democrat’s Radical Left ‘Disinformation Machine,’ go wild saying that ‘Trump doesn’t know the name of our President, (CROOKED!) Joe Biden. He must be cognitively impaired,’” Trump wrote.
This wouldn’t be the first time the press knew Trump was joking but told lies to benefit their preferred narrative.
In 2016, Trump mockingly said Russia should release Hillary Clinton’s emails which the press spent years falsely claiming was evidence that Trump colluded with Russia.
Trump also took the steam out of Democrats’ attacks that he planned to be the next Hitler by joking to Sean Hannity that he would only be a dictator on day one so he could issue executive orders to secure the border and unshackle the American energy industry.
The 45th President also noted he passed all his medical exams with flying colors and every cognitive test he took showed he was in perfect condition.
“No, I know both names very well, never mix them up, and know that they are destroying our Country. Also, and as reported, I just took a cognitive test as part of my Physical Exam, and ACED it. Also ACED (a perfect score!) one taken while in the White House,” Trump concluded.
