Elon Musk is back involved in politics in a major way.
Musk jumped into a fight that is key to President Trump’s plans for the future of the Republican Party.
And Elon Musk just made one bold move to stop one plot to rig the 2028 election.
Elon Musk made a major financial contribution to a coalition of groups pushing a ballot measure in November that would repeal Alaska’s open primary, ranked-choice voting scheme.
“Musk gave $1.5 million last month to the Aurora Action Network, a Wisconsin-based political action committee that has already collected contributions from numerous billionaire megadonors, including Dick Uihlein, Jeff Yass, Timothy Mellon and Hilcorp owner Jeffery Hildebrand. Aurora Action Network then gave the repeal campaign $1 million in late July.
Musk’s contribution, which makes up a sizable share of the repeal campaign’s fundraising, could prove pivotal for the future of Alaska’s elections,” the Alaska Daily News reported.
Longtime conservative activist Judy Eledge, who is leading the push to end ranked-choice voting, cheered the move.
“It’s hard to even put into words the gratitude that we feel that these titans of industry would show interest in our small state,” Eledge declared.
Alaska adopted a convoluted voting system in 2020 that called for all candidates to run in a primary and then the top four, regardless of party, would advance to a general election where voters would rank them in order of preference and the bottom candidate would get eliminated in rounds of “instant runoff” voting until someone got 50 percent of the vote.
RINO Senator Lisa Murkowski, who voted to convict Trump in the January 6 impeachment hoax, engineered the passage of ranked-choice voting since she knew she would face a conservative primary challenger and that she would lose.
By sending four candidates to the general election, that meant Murkowski, her conservative challenger, the Democrat, and another candidate could qualify for the general election.
Democrats knew their candidate couldn’t win, so they would rank Murkowski as their second choice, meaning that when the final round of voting came down to Murkowski and the conservative, Democrats provided the margin to elect Murkowski.
That’s exactly how Murkowski defeated Trump-endorsed Kelly Tshibak in 2022.
Alaskans tried to repeal ranked-choice voting in a 2024 ballot measure, but the effort failed by one percent.
Murkowski cut an ad opposing the ballot measure.
“As Alaskans, we value our independence. That’s why I’m voting ‘no’ on Ballot Measure 2,” Murkowski stated. “Sixty percent of Alaskans choose not to join a political party. Ballot Measure 2 limits our freedom to vote for the best candidate, regardless of party. So join me in rejecting ‘politics as usual.’”
Since then, Murkowski has governed like a Democrat in order to win their votes even though Alaska is a ruby red state.
Murkowski endorsed Democrat Congresswoman Mary Perolta for re-election in 2024.
“I’ve appreciated the great work that she has done for the state, and I hope that she’s able to continue that,” Murkowski stated.
This Congress, Murkowski opposed the SAVE Act and voted against Trump cabinet nominees like Pete Hegseth and Todd Blanche.
Republicans are hoping that with Musk’s financial muscle behind them, they can pass a ballot measure that will eliminate ranked-choice voting, restore primaries and a general election matchup between a Democrat and a Republican, and take away the ability of Murkowski to rig her 2028 re-election campaign to allow Democrats to send her back to the Senate.
