Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is planning to run for President in 2028.
But now that’s in jeopardy.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made this bad mistake that is about to cost her everything.
Ocasio-Cortez needed to establish herself as a serious thinker on foreign policy if she wants voters, donors, and the media to take her seriously as a Presidential contender.
The socialist Congresswoman sought to check that box with an appearance at the Munich Security Conference.
But Ocasio-Cortez committed what could be a campaign-killing gaffe similar to Ted Kennedy rambling about what he wanted to run for President when she uncorked an incoherent word salad about whether she believed America should commit troops to defend Taiwan if Communist China invades.
“Umm, you know, I think that, uh — this is such a, a — you know, I think that — this is a, umm — this is, of course, uh, a very longstanding, umm, policy of the United States, uh, and I think that what we are hoping for is that we want to make sure we never get to that point, and we want to make sure we are moving in all of our economic, research, and our global positions to avoid any such confrontation and for that question even to arise,” Oasio-Cortez rambled.

Ocasio-Cortez’s meltdown was so embarrassing that the New York Times couldn’t even cover for writing that she “stalled for roughly 20 seconds before offering a substantive response.”
Journalist Mark Halperin told viewers on his 2-way platform that Ocasio-Cortez’s Presidential hopes may have ended right then and there.
Halperin explained that for the Times to critically cover a Democrat meant it was the point of no return.
“It takes a major screw-up for The New York Times to put in their story about AOC that she had, I think they said it was a stumble or something. Had to be a really bad stumble. Yeah, and I will say, and again, I’m gonna talk about this at great length on Next Up, you cannot go to these things having gone to tutorial, and have a briefing book, and memorize your answers,” Halperin began.
Halperin said Democrats aren’t going to nominate a candidate who has no serious thoughts or instincts on foreign policy and just wants to recite answers memorized off a note card.
“If she doesn’t feel in her bones what America’s role should be vis-à-vis Taiwan, it’s never going to work. Now, she could have done a better job memorizing the answer they gave her, but that’s what I think is so instructive here about what happened. She has no feeling in her bones about Taiwan. She just thought, “Well, I’ll go with a memorized answer.” And I don’t think even the Democratic Party will make somebody the nominee if they can’t answer that question,” Halperin concluded.
Even Ocasio-Cortez knew she bombed.
Ocasio-Cortez performed damage control by calling the Times from Germany to claim this trip wasn’t about the White House.
The Congresswoman claimed she trekked to Germany “not because I’m running for president,” adding, “but because we need to sound the alarm bells that a lot of those folks in nicely pressed suits in that room will not be there much longer if we do not do something about the runaway inequality that is fueling far-right populist movements.”
But in politics, there is one constraint on truth.
If you are explaining, you’re losing.
