Fetterman is emerging as a headache for Democrats.
And now John Fetterman has delivered an ultimatum that is bad news for Chuck Schumer.
Polls show that Democrat voters despise John Fetterman and would prefer literally anyone else other than Fetterman when Fetterman is up for re-election in 2028.

Fetterman’s game is to appear on right-leaning media and talk up his support for Israel while voting the straight Democrat Party line.
In an interview with Greta Van Susteren, Fetterman executed this playbook as he attacked Democrat Socialist of America candidates as trust fund socialists and ridiculous figures.
“I mean, not only are they deeply unserious, but they’re deeply ridiculous kinds of hypocrites. But also, they are part of this party and a rising part of my party. You know, I am not a big-tent person if it includes people like that.
And for me, like, form your own party and stop. You know, these are the kind of people that, for average voters, they — you know, why Democrats have kind of lost the plot. You know, if we’re willing to entertain idiots like that,” Fetterman stated.
Fetterman then attacked Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for his friendship with anti-American streamer Hasan Piker, who is on record saying the U.S. “deserved” the 9/11 terror attacks.
“Now, as we come up on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, you know, remember that this is the guy who believes that America deserved that, and El-Sayed is like his best buddy. And they spent the entire primary campaigning with him and embracing it.
They have these extreme anti-America, anti-Israel, and really now increasingly anti-capitalism — I mean, all of these extreme views — and the Democratic Party is choosing these people,” Fetterman added.
That’s when Fetterman put his cards on the table and said it’s either the socialists or him, and the Democrat Party isn’t big enough for both of them.
“I strongly reject these kinds of people. I think that makes me a good Democrat. But I think that makes me a reasonable and a common-sense Democrat, because these are the kind of people that are not the future of a party, unless I don’t have a future in that party,” Fetterman concluded.
This hint could throw a giant monkey wrench in Chuck Schumer’s plans.
If Democrats win a Senate majority on the back of socialists like El–Sayed, Fetterman could throw the chamber into a 50-50 split by declaring himself an independent and running for re-election without being affiliated with any party.
Polling data shows that this is a viable path, as Republicans and independents approve of Fetterman, carving out a path to run as a centrist.
