Former President Barack Obama could not believe it.
Obama now finds himself at the center of a major investigation.
And Barack Obama found out some bad news that trapped him in a disturbing scandal.
Democrats hoped to use the FBI raiding Mar-a-Lago after a document ownership dispute between Donald Trump and the National Archives to indict and prosecute Trump to take Trump off the board for 2024.
The FBI seizing 300 classified documents — Donald Trump said he declassified the records before leaving office — handed Attorney General Merrick Garland the excuse to start a new witch hunt and appoint a special counsel to investigate and bring charges against Trump.
That plan collapsed when four separate searches of Joe Biden’s D.C. think tank and Wilmington, Delaware home produced six sets of stolen classified documents.
And the plan to indict Trump turned into a complete fiasco when Mike Pence — who previously attacked Trump by boasting about how he had no classified documents — revealed a search of his Indiana home turned up 12 documents containing classified markings.
This scandal began with a Democrat librarian at the National Archives picking a fight with Trump.
But now the National Archives sent a letter to every living former president — Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush — and every living former vice president – Dan Quayle, Al Gore and Dick Cheney — to search their properties and libraries for classified documents.
“The responsibility to comply with the PRA does not diminish after the end of an administration,” the letter read stating that “while much of the attention of these instances has focused on the classified information, the PRA requires that all Presidential records of every Administration from Reagan onward must be transferred to NARA, regardless of classification status.”
“Therefore, we request that you conduct an assessment of any materials held outside of NARA that relate to the Administration for which you serve as a designated representative under the PRA, to determine whether bodies of materials previously assumed to be personal in nature might inadvertently contain Presidential or Vice Presidential records subject to the PRA, whether classified or unclassified,” the letter added.
Clinton, Obama, Bush, Quayle, Gore and Cheney all previously claimed they had no classified documents in their possession.
But so did Mike Pence.
And after Pence claiming he always followed the rules on handling classified documents blew up in his face the National Archives was forced to drag every other living former president and vice president into the mix.
The odds are at least one of Clinton, Bush, Obama, Quayle, Gore or Cheney had classified documents stashed somewhere.
A discovery of classified documents would be another nail in the coffin in Biden’s plan to indict Trump.
