Texas Senator Ted Cruz is making no secret of how badly he wants to run for President in 2028.
The issue Cruz plans to center his campaign on will shock many Republicans.
Ted Cruz just made one confession that will leave you speechless.
Cruz telegraphed for more than a year that his challenge to Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 GOP presidential primary will focus on Israel.
Vance opposed the war in Iran as he came to oppose the Iraq War after serving in that conflict.
Ted Cruz supports a full-on regime-change war in Iran and has taken to claiming anyone opposed to the Iran War is an anti-Semite.
Polls show many of the young men that Trump won over in 2024 drifted away from the GOP coalition in 2026 over the Iran War.
Cruz’s solution isn’t to try to win back young voters.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal’s Jack Butler, Cruz made it clear that a central theme of his 2028 campaign will be attacking every Republican under the age of 40 as an anti-Semite.
“The specter of ‘Groyperism’ is haunting Republicans,” was the title of Butler’s article about his interview with Cruz.
A “groyper” is a follower of controversial right-wing commentator Nick Fuentes
“The Groyper problem is real,” Cruz told Butler, adding that the right is swimming in anti-Semitism, “I’ve seen more antisemitism on the right in the last two years than at any point in my lifetime.”
Butler wrote that Cruz claimed anti-Semitism on the right is so pervasive that Cruz is unable to fill staff positions because Cruz claims everyone he interviews hates Israel.
“It shows up in his X replies anytime he’s supportive of Israel. It even shows up in his congressional office. Mr. Cruz described some recent trouble filling a vacancy because half the applicants said they couldn’t stomach his support for Israel,” Butler wrote.
Cruz then revealed his definition of “anti-Semitism,” which was disagreeing with him on Israel.
“It’s not difficult to find my views on this topic. They are not a secret. I am not shy about it. If 50% of the people applying and saying, ‘I want to work for you,’ are expressing these sentiments, what do you think the 22-year-old staffer who’s working for a run-of-the-mill congressional member is expressing or not expressing?” Cruz stated.
Polls show Republicans under the age of 50 hold a less favorable view of Israel than those over 50.
Cruz running a Presidential campaign on the idea that every young Republican in America is an anti-Semite because they don’t agree with his neoconservative foreign policy views is only going to accelerate the trends Cruz says he wants to fight against.
Vice President Vance also rejected the idea that the conservative base is a collection of bigots.
“I think it’s kind of slanderous to say that the Republican Party, the conservative movement, is extremely antisemitic,” Vance told NBC News.
