Chuck Schumer and fellow Democrats discovered some really bad news.
This was the nightmare scenario they feared.
And JD Vance revealed Trump prepared one war game that will terrify every Democrat.
Senate Republicans, and not Democrats, were the party responsible for killing the SAVE Act in this Congress.
In an interview with Vince Coglianese, Vance explained that Senate Republicans, hiding behind the idea that the parliamentarian was the one ruling the chamber, couldn’t pass the SAVE Act via a simple majority vote using the reconciliation process, and were hiding behind that as an excuse for why they secretly wanted to vote with Democrats.
“There is no shortcut; I think our people want to think the parliamentarian is the problem … the parliamentarian is a bureaucrat … the problem is we have a number of Republican senators who vote more with Democrats than their own party, and that is the issue,” Vance stated.
Vance went on to say that he and Trump wargamed this out, and if all 50 Republicans stick together, he could cast the tying vote to fire the parliamentarian
“The problem is not who’s in the chair; the problem is four or five Republicans who are going to stand with the Democrats. We have wargamed this to every detail, and I wanted to do this a few months ago, and we ultimately decided it doesn’t make sense because it’s not going to go anywhere,” Vance added.
Vance told Coglianese that he and Trump are committed to this fight, and this means replacing bad Republican Senators with good ones in the 2026 election.
“We’re interested in winning the battle, and that means replacing mediocre Republican senators with good Republican senators,” Vance continued.
Trump ousted RINOs John Cornyn and Bill Cassidy, who were SAVE Act obstructionists in the primary, and is campaigning for Michael Whatley, who is running for the seat held by retiring RINO Thom Tillis.
Vance said Democrats fight against every election integrity measure, but it’s really RINOs who block its passage by opposing Trump on eliminating the filibuster or firing the Senate parliamentarian, who was put in that position by the late Harry Reid.
“It’s Democrats who won’t vote for it. You know, we’re all voting for election integrity. We’re all voting for voter ID. Democrats won’t. And the only thing, you know, you can get upset about it, you know, the Republicans, is we don’t have the votes to overcome the filibuster,” Vance concluded.
Other Republican senators share Vance’s frustration with RINOs blocking the SAVE Act.
“All year long we heard ‘we’ll get to the SAVE America Act when we have time,’ realizing it would likely take a few weeks,” Utah Senator Mike Lee wrote on social media. “We waited patiently while fully funding DHS and addressing other priorities, expecting to return to it when time allowed. It’s now August, and we’ve already taken more recess weeks this year than I can count.”
