For years Trey Gowdy was one of the most trusted members of Congress and commentators on Fox News.
That’s why what just happened was so difficult for many conservatives to believe.
Trey Gowdy just revealed one hard truth that Trump supporters will hate to accept.
After years of presenting himself as a conservative champion Trey Gowdy showed he never meant much of it.
In the aftermath of the tragedy at The Covenant Christian School in Tennessee where a transgender biological woman pretending to be a boy shot and killed six innocents including three nine-year-olds, Trey Gowdy went on Fox News and demanded Republicans pass Joe Biden’s red flag confiscation bill.
Gowdy even slammed the idea of using armed security at schools — even though two heroic armed police officers brought the transgender murderer’s killing spree to an end — claiming that by taking guns away from law-abiding American citizens you would not need armed guards at schools in the first place.
“I mean, I’d like to work on both in the interim, make it absolutely safe to attend school, since the law requires that you do so. On the other hand, we’ve got to have some kind of conversation about what is wrong with the soul of this country, that someone would kill a child. I don’t know the answer. I just know that we have a soul problem in addition to a violence problem in this country,” Gowdy ranted.
Gowdy then launched into an insane diatribe bizarrely claiming conservatives who support the death penalty should also support red flag confiscation laws.
“I mean, we can put people to death with due process in this country, but yet we got people on one political side who say you can’t take firearms under red flag laws because of due process concerns,” Gowdy continued.
“I mean, that’s really stupid. We can take your life, but we can’t take your firearm if you are having mental issues,” Gowdy concluded.
Gowdy is a former federal prosecutor and thus knows administering the death penalty is far different than red flag confiscation laws.
For the state to execute a convicted felon the government must first prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of a capital offense.
Then the government must convince a judge in the sentencing phase that the death penalty is the appropriate punishment.
Red flag confiscation laws allow prosecutors to take gossip, rumors, and grudges before anti-gun judges to win orders allowing the government to kick down the doors of gun owners and seize their firearms without that person ever being convicted of a crime.
But like all gun grabbers Gowdy wants to muddy the waters and confuse facts and the Constitution with emotional, tug-at-the-heartstrings arguments.
