The corporate media and Democrats tried for years to get Tucker Carlson kicked off the air.
Now the left has a powerful ally.
And this top-secret phone call to Fox News could spell doom for Tucker Carlson.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky personally called Fox Corp. Chairman Lachlan Murdoch to express his sympathy for Fox crew members killed covering the war in Ukraine.
Zelensky also thanked Fox for its donations to the Ukrainian relief effort through the Red Cross.
“I’ve learned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky personally called Fox News chairman and C.E.O. Lachlan Murdoch last night to reiterate his condolences for the members of the Fox News team who were killed and injured by the Russian military a year ago today, and to thank him for Fox Corp’s ongoing donations to the Ukrainian relief effort. Fox Corp. donated $1 million last year after the attack on its journalists, and another $1 million this week, both via the Red Cross,” Puck’s Dylan Byers exclusively reported in his email newsletter.
But conservatives suspect there was an ulterior motive for Zelensky’s call to Murdoch and it centered on Tucker Carlson.
The call between Zelensky and Murdoch came after Carlson asked six leading GOP presidential contenders for their views on continuing to fund the war in Ukraine.
The two leading contenders — Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis — staked out “America First” positions.
Trump called for an immediate end to the war and negotiated settlement.
DeSantis deemed the matter a territorial dispute that is not a vital interest, which distracts America from real problems like Communist Chinese aggression.
The call also came on the heels of the results of an Axios/Ipsos poll showing Fox News viewers 23 points less likely to support funding the war in Ukraine.
“Support for arming Ukraine is noticeably lower among people whose primary news source is Fox News or other conservative media (43%) than among people who mainly watch or read network news, major national papers or their local news (66%),” Axios also reports.
CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, The New York Times, the Washington Post, as well as the rest of the corporate media all line up behind Joe Biden and the war in Ukraine.
But Carlson, as well as other Fox hosts like Laura Ingraham, questions the wisdom of fighting a proxy war against the world’s largest nuclear power when America faces much bigger challenges such as Communist China.
Overall, just a minority of Republicans support the blank check Joe Biden demanded for his proxy war against Russia in Ukraine.
“Just 42% of Republicans surveyed now say they support sending U.S. weapons and money to Ukraine — compared with 79% of Democrats and 60% of independents,” Axios also exclusively reported.
The timing of the call between Zelensky and Lachlan Murdoch struck conservatives as suspicious and yet another attempt by Zelensky to leverage his media ties to influence the coverage on Fox News to be more pro-Ukrainian.
