Karine Jean-Pierre is only used to softball questions.
And even then, she has trouble coming up with answers unless she can pull one out of her conspicuous white binder.
But now Karine Jean-Pierre froze like a deer in headlights when confronted with this devastating fact.
Joe Biden claims he won’t raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 per year.
Joe Biden also promised to let the Trump tax cuts expire when they sunset in 2025 if he wins re-election.
Both of those statements can’t be true.
A reporter asked Jean-Pierre to resolve this tension during a recent White House press briefing.
“The president said he wants to let the Trump tax cuts expire. If that law expires, it does raise taxes on almost every American. Does he still support that expiring without anything else in place?” the reporter asked.
Jean-Pierre could only fall back on her talking point since this question forced her to come up with an answer that went beyond what was in the script and claimed Biden would only raise taxes on Americans making $400,000 per year.
“The president is going to allow the Trump tax cut expire. He was very clear. But he will not raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000/year…It’s going to expire for the wealthy,” Jean-Pierre responded.
But the reporter pressed for an answer, noting that the entire 2017 Trump tax cut package expires in 2025, and not just the tax cuts Biden doesn’t like.
The reporter told Jean-Pierre under Biden’s scheme to raise taxes, a middle-class earner with a family making $85,000 will see a nearly $2,000 tax increase thanks to Biden letting the Trump tax cuts go away.
“The president can’t pick and choose which parts of the law sunsets. The entire law will sunset, and the Tax Foundation says that someone who’s married, two kids, making $85,000 would pay $1,700 more in taxes. That’s somebody under $400K—” the reporter shot back before Jean-Pierre interrupted with an incoherent ramble.

The Trump tax cuts benefited the middle class.
Even liberal Washington Post so-called “fact checker” Glenn Kessler was forced to admit this.
Kessler wrote that the “Tax Policy Center found 65 percent of taxpayers would get tax cuts. In the $50,000 to $75,000 range, 82 percent would get tax cuts, with people who got a tax cut ending up with an average of almost $1,000.”
Democrats know it’s not politically popular to say they will raise taxes on the middle class.
But a good rule of thumb is that you always believe a Democrat when they say they want to raise your taxes.
