Even a newly passed law isn’t enough to stop Ilhan Omar.
She’s scandalously willing to give information to America’s rival.
Ilhan Omar is creating a national security concern with her outrageous behavior.
In December TikTok was banned from devices issued by the U.S. House of Representatives because the popular app is considered a “high risk to users due to a number of security risks,” a copy of the notice from the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer stated according to CNN.
Yet that wasn’t enough to stop a few members of Congress from using the app.
Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Jamaal Bowman of New York have posted on the app since the ban.
“With the passage of the Omnibus that banned TikTok on executive branch devices, the CAO worked with the Committee on House Administration to implement a similar policy for the House,” a spokesperson for the Chief Administrative Officer told Reuters on Tuesday.
“TikTok is a Trojan Horse for the Chinese Communist Party. It’s a major security risk to the United States, and until it is forced to sever ties with China completely, it has no place on government devices,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) said in a statement earlier this month. “States across the U.S. are banning TikTok on government devices. It’s time for Joe Biden and the Democrats to help do the same.”
The bill was passed with bipartisan support yet still six Democrats posted on the app afterwards.
Omar, Bowman, Reps. Katie Porter and Tony Cardenas of California, former Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, and Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri all appeared to operate accounts on the platform.
“Omar’s most recent post, from Jan. 6, is a clip from C-SPAN depicting a rowdy Congress voting on whether to adjourn and reassemble the following day amid multiple failed attempts to determine a speaker of the House.” The Daily Caller reported.
Bowman posted on January 6th commemorating two years since the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, which the Democrats are desperately trying to promote at every opportunity.
Gordon Chang, a senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute and author of “The Great U.S. China Tech War,” said on Fox News that China is using TikTok to try and weaken America’s government.
“President Trump banned TikTok along with WeChat,” Chang said. “President Biden, one of the first things he did was he reversed that ban. We know that over a course of years, about three or four of them, TikTok has been making representations to the U.S. about how it doesn’t allow data to be sent to China. And it’s violated every single assurance it’s given to the U.S. But it’s not just stealing data.”
“It is actually more serious that it is using the TikTok algorithm to disseminate Chinese propaganda, glorifying drug use, promoting violence on American streets, and this year, disseminating Russian narratives about the Ukraine war,” he continued. “So this really is an attempt to undermine and actually even overthrow the U.S. government. And why we permit it? I don’t know. India banned TikTok, we should do the same thing.”
