The era of good feelings between Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly is over.
Trump isn’t happy at all with what Kelly just did.
And Donald Trump went to war with Megyn Kelly for this shocking reason.
Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump feuded in 2016 over Trump believing Fox News executives tasked her with trying to take him out with a “gotcha” question regarding his past comments about women at the first GOP presidential primary debate in 2015.
Kelly later mended fences and defended Trump on her podcast.
But now Trump thinks Kelly just took his side in his fights with Democrats, Never Trumpers, the Deep State and the media to boost her career as her show is now the second-ranked podcast for news and commentary and the number 36 overall podcast in America on all topics according to Chartable.
Trump let his frustration be known about his feelings over Kelly using him during a rally in Rome, Georgia.
“Megyn Kelly. May she rest in peace. She is sort of making a career by pretending she likes me,” Trump told a crowd.
Kelly earned Trump’s ire by ripping Alabama Senator Katie Britt’s widely panned State of the Union response.
Republicans picked Britt thinking she gave off the vibe of a relatable and popular suburban mom.
But Britt’s breathy delivery had even Kelly slamming her performance saying the GOP paid the price for selecting Britt to respond to Biden’s State of the Union speech based on identity politics as opposed to which speaker would deliver the most compelling and persuasive case against Biden.
“And they blew it, as they do almost all the time in these state of the Union responses. They put up a rising star in the Republican Party. Katie Britt, who is a senator from the state of Alabama and a Republican, as I said, and I don’t know what the F I saw!” Kelly declared.
“I agree with the people saying she looked like she was auditioning for a show on Lifetime! The drama, the fake affectation, the over-the-top portrayal of emotions I did not believe she was feeling at all, her inauthenticity,” Kelly continued.
“Okay. She embarrassed herself. She embarrassed the Republicans, and she embarrassed women. It was a disgrace! I was horrified by her performance. And I really think that it’s going to take her years to rebound from that performance. Am I? Am I being too hard on her?” Kelly added.
Donald Trump was sensitive to the criticism of Britt as she is reportedly high up on his shortlist for VP candidates.
And Trump defended Britt following her speech as the mockery on social media poured in.
“Katie Britt was a GREAT contrast to an Angry, and obviously very Disturbed, ‘President.’ She was compassionate and caring, especially concerning Women and Women’s Issues. Her conversation on Migrant Crime was powerful and insightful. Great job Katie!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Britt’s State of the Union response was widely viewed as a chance for an unknown senator who is viewed favorably by the establishment and Trump to show she could rise to the occasion and serve as a running-mate selection to appeal to voters beyond the MAGA base.
But Britt flopped big time in the role and conservatives were the most upset at her performance.
Trump is not one to sit back and absorb criticism, so he fired right back at Kelly who he believed was acting opportunistically.
