California Governor Gavin Newsom wants to run for president.
Newsom is clearly waiting on standby to launch a 2024 campaign if Joe Biden doesn’t survive his stolen classified document scandal.
But if Biden runs in 2024 Newsom is clearly positioning himself as the establishment favorite for 2028 as Democrats do not believe Kamala Harris can win a national election.
Newsom wants to brand himself to Democrat voters as their answer to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — a big-state governor who picks all the fights the party base is itching for.
The latest front on Newsom’s national rollout included seizing on a mass shooting in Monterey Park where a deranged madman killed 11 innocents.
Newsom appeared on “CBS Evening News” for a major broadcast interview with anchor Norah O’Donnell.
In the interview Newsom ranted about the need to seize guns from law-abiding American citizens while armed security guards protected the governor and O’Donnell.

Gun grabbers always fall victim to this obvious hypocrisy.
The ultimate goal of anti-gun politicians is to ban and confiscate all firearms in America so the government is the only entity with guns.
Democrats like Newsom seek to deny Americans the ability to defend themselves and their families with firearms that Newsom and his allies regularly avail themselves of.
In a move that surprised conservatives O’Donnell confronted Newsom over the fact that California has the strictest gun control laws in America — including banning so-called “high-capacity magazines and the firearm used in the shooting — and still failed to prevent tragedy.
Newsom admitted gun control would not stop mass shootings and committed instead to double down on enforcement.

O’DONNELL: California has the strictest gun laws in the U.S.
NEWSOM: I mean the Second Amendment’s becoming a suicide pact.
O’DONNELL: But there are many in this country that support the Second Amendment and are lawful gun owners.
NEWSOM: Yeah, I have great respect, I have no ideological opposition to people reasonably responsibly owning firearms and getting background checks and getting trained.
O’DONNELL: Authorities say the shooter used a modified pistol with a high-capacity magazine. But how did he get a gun that’s illegal in the state of California?
NEWSOM: Exactly we’ll figure it out. That’s gonna happen. We gotta enforce laws, this [fell] through the cracks but that doesn’t mean you give up.
The video of Newsom exposed two truths about anti-gun politicians.
First, they do believe firearms are necessary for self-defense which is why they travel with armed security.
And second, the point of gun control is to disarm law-abiding citizens since criminals and deranged lunatics are never going to obey the law anyway.
