Donald Trump is keeping everyone in suspense about the selection of a running mate.
Now that Trump wrapped up the GOP presidential nomination it’s the last big decision Trump has to make before the convention.
And Donald Trump reached a final answer about naming this Republican as his vice president.
Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy was one of the breakout stars of the GOP presidential primary.
Ramaswamy made a name for himself blasting woke ideology as a cancer on America, promising to dismantle the weaponized justice system targeting Donald Trump and his supporters, as well as making mincemeat out of establishment RINO Nikki Haley on the debate stage for her unflinching support for a blank check for Ukraine.
In a town hall event prior to the South Carolina primary, Trump confirmed to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham that Ramaswamy was on the shortlist to be vice president.
But now it appears that Ramaswamy is no longer under consideration as Trump personally informed Ramaswamy that he will not be his running mate.
“Donald Trump has ruled out Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate and is instead eyeing the entrepreneur for a Cabinet job, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Republican presidential nominee sizes up a possible administration,” Bloomberg reports.
But just because Ramaswamy isn’t joining Trump on the ticket doesn’t mean he will play no role in a Trump administration.
Reportedly Trump would consider Ramaswamy to be the secretary of Homeland Security, an ideal post for Ramaswamy who pledged during his presidential campaign to cut off funding for Ukraine and deploy American military assets to secure the southern border.
“Trump personally told Ramaswamy he won’t be his vice presidential pick, according to people briefed on the discussion, but is considering him for posts including Homeland Security secretary. Some Trump allies see Ramaswamy as ideal for the job because they say he excels at public speaking and, as an Indian-American son of an immigrant, could neutralize criticism of sweeping immigration restrictions,” the Bloomberg report continued.
Trump campaign senior advisor Jason Miller tried to downplay this all as rumor and innuendo.
“Apparently somebody has decided to list out everyone who has ever met President Trump and is now speculating as to their potential participation in a second Trump administration. The truth is that unless you hear it directly from President Trump or his campaign, this is all B.S.,” Miller told Bloomberg.
Even if Ramaswamy is not on the shortlist for vice president, the fact that an immigration hardliner like Ramaswamy is the top contender to run Homeland Security shows that a second Trump administration would differ from the first in that Trump is now experienced in the ways of Washington and intends on coming to the White House with a fully formed plan to staff his administration with America First conservatives loyal to his agenda.
