Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asserted her authority inside the Democratic Party.
No one was prepared for this power play.
And Nancy Pelosi delivered one private ultimatum that rocked the Democratic Party to its core.
After Joe Biden’s brain melted down during his 2024 debate with Donald Trump, it was Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama who organized the effort to force Biden from the race.
Obama ran the outside game, reportedly enlisting Hollywood actor George Clooney to pen a New York Times op-ed saying he believed Biden was too senile to continue on as the Democratic Party nominee for President.
Pelosi ran the inside game, enlisting members of Congress to pressure Biden to drop out and to mobilize donors to cut off the funding for Biden’s campaign.
Biden eventually bowed to the pressure and endorsed Kamala Harris, who lost in a landslide, to replace him on the ticket.
On her way out the door from Congress, Pelosi is now trying to downplay her role in the switcheroo scheme that ended her quest to keep Trump out of the White House in failure.
Pelosi played dumb about Biden’s senility and acted like she was kept in the dark about his cognitive decline by his handlers.
“I do think that those who did know should have acted upon that information. Whoever knew,” Pelosi said to left-wing journalist Jonathan Martin during an appearance on stage at POLITICO’s The California Agenda: Sacramento Summit on Tuesday. “There was staff saying the family knew. The family said the staff.”
Pelosi met with Biden repeatedly as Speaker of the House and knew full well he was mentally enfeebled.
But Pelosi wants to try to keep her hands clean of the cover-up to hide his mental decrepitude from the American people.
When Martin asked Pelosi about how she forced Biden out of the race, Pelosi claimed she only asked Biden if his team was providing him accurate polling information about his true chances.
“I only said to President Biden, ‘I’ve come to question the polling that you have and how your campaign is being conducted,” Pelosi added. “Because, at that point, 72 percent of the American people didn’t think he should run.”
Pelosi then tried to make it out like it was a joint decision for Biden to end his campaign after the two prayed on it.
“We’re Catholic, we’re prayerful, we had our rosaries and all of that,” Pelosi continued. “We had a lovely meeting. It was only the two of us.”
Both Biden and Pelosi support abortion up until birth, homosexual marriage, and transgenderism.
The idea that they are faithful Catholics is laughable to many Americans.
Pelosi also threw the entire Biden team under the bus and told Martin that the debate served as the “ah ha” moment where Democrats realized Biden was mentally incompetent.
“When you think of the debate and how sad that was, that’s really when we learned,” Pelosi remarked, “I didn’t know, and I think he had his sort of ups and downs.”
No one actually believes Pelosi and her fellow Democrats were clueless as to Biden’s condition.
This is more play-acting.
Biden told a different version of his meeting with Pelosi.
In an interview with CBS News, Biden recounted Pelosi calling him a “distraction” and that remaining in the race would tank down-ballot Democrats running for the House and Senate.
“What happened was a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and the Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races,” Biden stated.
“I was concerned that if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic you’d be interviewing me about – why did Nancy Pelosi say… And I thought it would be a real distraction,” Biden said.
