President Trump isn’t used to direct challenges to his face over his control of the Republican Party.
But someone just stepped up to the plate.
And all hell broke loose when one RINO challenged Trump in this closed-door meeting.
President Trump was already furious with Senate Republicans over establishment Republicans not terminating the filibuster and allowing Democrats to derail the SAVE Act.
Trump’s anger only grew after the Senate passed a War Powers Act resolution reining in his authority to conduct the war with Iran, a move Trump argued hamstrung his ability to negotiate a peace deal and end the conflict.
When Trump attended a Senate GOP conference lunch, sparks flew as establishment RINO Bill Cassidy, whom Trump ousted in a primary after Cassidy voted to convict Trump in the January 6 impeachment hoax, confronted Trump to his face over the Iran deal.
Cassidy is one of the establishment war mongers dumping on Trump’s deal because he wants the war to continue.
During the meeting, Cassidy berated Trump for calling the deal a “blunder.”
Trump fired back that Cassidy was a “lunatic,” at which point Cassidy disrespected Trump by stopping calling him “Mr. President” and referring to Trump as “brother,” a move that Trump didn’t appreciate in the least.

After the meeting, Cassidy recounted to reporters that he told Trump to his face that the deal was an admission of defeat, something Trump pushed back on.
“I stood and said, ‘You have not told the American people what’s going on. It was supposed to last four weeks; it’s lasted four months. Our original objectives have not been achieved, and I want to know what’s going on,” Cassidy began.
“He did not particularly care for my comments and raised his voice. I lost my temper, that’s not appropriate – it’s the Irish in me,” Cassidy added. “I matched his tone and his volume, and it went back and forth.”
Cooler heads prevailed on Cassidy’s end after the meeting as Vice President JD Vance and Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff briefed Cassidy in private about what the deal with Iran actually entailed.
Cassidy then posted on social media that Vance and Witkoff allayed his fears.
“I want to thank Vice President Vance and Special Envoy Witkoff for the thorough briefing this afternoon on Iran. I appreciate the quick invitation to the White House to address many of my concerns,” Cassidy added.
The Senate voted a second time on the War Powers resolution, and Cassidy and Rand Paul flipped their votes, allowing Republicans to defeat the measure, a move Trump applauded on Truth Social.
“Wow! The Senate just changed its vote on Iran from 50-48 against to 50-47 for. Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy changed. Thank you to Leader John Thune, Lindsey Graham, Bernie Moreno, and all. This vote puts Iran on notice!” Trump wrote.
