One RINO in D.C. is facing a career-ending crisis.
All hell broke loose when an attempt at damage control only made matters worse.
And a shocking confession about this ugly sex scandal spells doom for one RINO sellout.
RINO Texas Congressman Tony Gonzalez trailed his conservative challenger Brandon Herrera by 900 votes on primary day.
The two now head to a May runoff.
Gonzalez was already on the ropes over his support for amnesty as well as red flag gun confiscation laws, and his past comments attacking Trump supporters as similar to the KKK.
But the final nail in the coffin may be the growing scandal surrounding Gonzlaez’s affair with former staffer Regina Santos-Aviles.
Bombshell text messages showed Gonzlaez demanding Santos-Aviles send him a lewd picture and pressured her to reveal her favorite sexual positions.
Santos-Aviles killed herself last September by dousing herself in gasoline and setting herself on fire.
Adrian Avliles, Regina’s widow, blamed Gonzalez for his wife’s suicide, claiming she took her own life after Gnzlae froze her out.
Gonzalez tried to play damage control by coming clean about the affair.
“I made a mistake, and I had a lapse in judgment, and there was a lack of faith, and I take full responsibility for those actions,” Gonzales said in an interview with conservative talk show host Joe Pagliarulo. “Since then, I’ve reconciled with my wife, Angel. I’ve asked God to forgive me, which he has. And my faith is as strong as ever.”
Gonzalez denied any responsibility for Santos-Aviles’ death.
“I had absolutely nothing to do with her tragic passing, and in fact, I was shocked just as much as everyone else was,” Gonzalez added.
But then Gonzales went off the rails, accusing Santos-Aviles’s widower of being an opportunistic blackmail artist.
“Within hours [of Santos-Aviles’s death], her estranged husband reached out to our office and asked, within hours, asked about her death benefits and how he could gain access to her retirement fund. […] It was eerie. It was creepy. […] A few months later, his criminal defense attorney, which I also thought was weird, not a civil offense attorney, his criminal defense attorney reaches out and essentially asks me for money or else, right?” Gonzales added.
“They asked for $300,000. The thing is, I don’t have $300,000. And if I did have $300,000, I’m not going to give it to somebody who’s trying to shake me down. So, this was always about money. Fast forward again. Now, now you add politics into it, right? All this thing was relayed, you know, the beginning of early voting. So, this was all coordinated. It was intentional,” Gonzalez continued.
Gonzalez even smeared Santos-Aviles’s husband as a homosexual and blamed him for his wife’s death.
“In the police report, this is specifically from the police report, ‘The female subject with burn injuries then stated her husband is gay and having an affair with her best friend,’” Gonzalez ranted. “I wonder if that had something to do with her tragic passing.”
If Gonzalez thought this interview would help put the scandal behind him and allow the establishment to ride to his rescue, he was sorely mistaken.
Top Republicans were disgusted and basically wrote him off.
“A total disaster. Tony Gonzales’ video is a textbook case of what NOT to do. He shows no contrition or empathy for his staffer who died, shows no sincerity to his constituents for lying, and actually attacks the widow and family of his dead staffer. And smears the widower as gay,” the Wall Street Journal’s Olivia Beavers wrote on X.
