Rumors about Nancy Pelosi’s retirement have swirled around Washington for the last three years.
That can all get put to rest.
And Nancy Pelosi made a retirement decision that put jaws on the floor.
When Pelosi finally handed off leadership of the House Democratic Caucus to New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries most pundits and insiders figured Pelosi would soon announce her retirement.
Pelosi lost the speaker’s gavel for the second time, and no one believed being a backbencher held much appeal to the 83-year-old past-her-prime Pelosi.
Many believed the plan was for Pelosi to retire during the current term and set up her daughter to take over her San Francisco seat.
But in an interview with left-wing activist Jonathan Martin of POLITICO, Pelosi stunned Washington by announcing she would run for another term in the House of Representatives.
In the interview with Martin, Pelosi revealed she decided to run for re-election on behalf of the globalist agenda and liberal international elites who are terrified over the prospect of Donald Trump securing a second term.
Pelosi wants to run and win to try and thwart Trump attempting to put America First and secure the southern border as opposed to Pelosi’s preferred outcome which is pouring hundreds of billions of dollars down the drain in an effort to secure Ukraine’s border.
“People there were so concerned about our democracy, as concerned about what happens if what’s-his-name ever would become president again in terms of Ukraine, in terms of NATO, in terms of the transatlantic alliance and the rest,” Pelosi told Martin. “It was amazing, I mean, I was on the front page of the four leading newspapers of Italy because of their concern about all of this.”
Pelosi admitted Trump lives rent-free in her head while at the same time trying and failing to claim that Trump’s decisions do not influence her own.
“My decisions in life are not predicated on his insanity,” Pelosi said before adding that “it’s important to make sure that our flag is still there.”
Pelosi added that it is important for her to run since she is one of the party’s most prodigious fundraisers and it would be easier for her to shake the donor class and make it rain campaign contributions if she were on the ballot.
“My focus is the House and presidency; you’re in a stronger position as a candidate,” Pelosi added. “You may not know this, but if you’re not a candidate, you really can’t raise money for yourself. And raising money for myself enables me to spend that on other people.”
Polls show Donald Trump beating Joe Biden.
But the general election is still 14 months away and the polls represent merely a snapshot in time.
However, the clearest sign yet that Democrats think Joe Biden is in big-time danger in 2024 is the fact that Nancy Pelosi thinks it’s critical that she remains on the political battlefield as the party’s chief fundraiser and strategist.
