Democrats thought they set the perfect trap for FBI Director Kash Patel.
But it turned out to be Democrats who had no idea what had just hit them.
And Kash Patel went nuclear after this Democrat’s unhinged meltdown.
One reason the fake news media publishes hit pieces is that Democrats can seize on the accusation to try to create a scandal.
It’s one thing if a leftist publication attacks the Trump administration.
It’s another if a Democrat member of Congress uses the stature afforded by their position as an elected official to enter the accusation into the official record, which creates a second news cycle that every liberal media outlet can seize on.
That’s exactly the play Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland ran when he questioned FBI Director Kash Patel during an Appropriations Committee hearing.
Van Hollen grilled Patel over a dubious Atlantic magazine piece claiming Patel was a drunk who suffered from “excessive drinking and unexplained absences.”
Patel was having none of it.
“Nope, it’s a total farce. I don’t even know where you get this stuff,” Patel declared. “But it doesn’t make it credible because you say so.”
“I’m not saying it, Director Patel, it’s been written and documented,” Van Hollen shot back.
“You are literally saying it,” Patel retorted.
“No, I’m saying they’re reports,” Van Hollen replied.
Patel then turned the tables on Van Hollen, pointing out that it was Van Hallon who was photographed in El Salvador knocking back margaritas with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the illegal alien who immigration judges adjudicated as an MS-13 gang member and who stood accused of human trafficking and beating his wife.
“Unlike those baseless reports, the only person that was slingin’ margaritas in El Salvador on the taxpayer dollar with a convicted gangbanging rapist was you!” Patel exclaimed.
Democrats tried to turn Abrego Garcia into the so-called “Maryland man” deported by the Trump administration to make it seem like Trump disappeared innocent Americans off the streets and into foreign black site prisons.
That narrative collapsed when the facts about Abrego-Garcia came ot light.
Patel then called out Van Hollen for other examples of alcohol consumption on the taxpayer’s dime,
“The only person that ran up a $7,000 bar tab in Washington, D.C at The Lobby Bar was you!” Patel declared. “So the only individual in this room that has been drinking on the taxpayer’s dime during the day is you!”
Van Hollen couldn’t even muster a response.
“Director Patel, come on!” Van Hollen whined. “These are serious allegations against you.”
But Patel drove the point home.
“This is the example of ultimate hypocrisy. I will not be tarnished by baseless allegations,” Patel emphasized.
NEW: Senator Chris Van Hollen’s questioning of FBI Director Kash Patel completely backfires after he asked Patel about allegations of his drinking habits.
Van Hollen: “Multiple reports have alleged episodes of excessive drinking…”
Patel: “The only person that was slinging… pic.twitter.com/a0Wl2ODwRj
