Democrats thought the coast was clear.
Congressional majorities were in their grasp.
But then Elon Musk took the gloves off with one bombshell that is Chuck Schumer’s worst nightmare.
Elon Musk spent $290 million to help elect President Trump in 2024.
Musk was sitting on the sidelines for 2026.
That all changed in an instant as Musk reactivated his America PAC by promising a major cash spend to turn out low-propensity GOP voters who showed up for Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024, but didn’t cast a ballot in elections where Trump’s name wasn’t on the ballot.
“America PAC will focus on door-knocking, digital advertising and direct mail aimed at turning out the conservative base, including voters who typically are less inclined to cast ballots in a non-presidential election year,” Axios reported.
James Blair, who is leading President Trump’s political operation, applauded Musk’s involvement as a potential game changer.
“The president’s political team and the rest of the GOP apparatus have built a top-notch operation that will put Republicans in a strong position to buck history and retain control of Congress this fall, and we’re excited to again be part of the team,” America PAC spokesperson Andrew Romeo told Axios.
“America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country,” Blair told Axios
“We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day,” Blair continued.
Musk’s infusion of America PAC with big money will strengthen the one advantage Republicans currently hold over Democrats: money from outside Super PACs.
“GOP super PACs and committees have a $300 million-plus advantage over their Democratic counterparts — and that doesn’t include the $400 million sitting in Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC,” Axios reported.
Musk funding America PAC’s voter identification and turnout operation allows for a more efficient distribution of GOP Super PAC resources since it means other groups, like Trump’s MAGA Inc. Super PAC, can focus on TV ads.
The announcement from Musk doesn’t come a moment too soon, as the most recent Fox News Senate polling puts Democrats one seat short of a majority.
