President Trump took office to make big changes.
No one predicted this.
And Trump just signed this new one-page Constitution that changed everything.
Polls show over 80 percent of Americans support regulating AI.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for a slowdown on AI superintelligence research after former employee Jacob Coxon’s viral thread on social media about the dangers of this technology.
Coxon blew the whistle on the fact that everyone involved in superintelligence research understands there is a risk it wipes out humanity by 2030.
Elon Musk agreed and has said there is a 20 percent chance of a “Terminator scenario” where AI becomes self-aware and brings about nuclear armageddon.
But President Trump is a big booster of AI and opposed government regulations, claiming it was a national security imperative that America beat China in the AI race.
Trump argued the AI companies could police themselves and that the Department of Justice had laws on the books to prosecute violations.
To set his new tone, Trump invited the CEOs of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, xAI, and Nvidia to the White House.
At the event, the tech CEOs agreed to the White House Accord on Superintelligence, a document that laid out the principles of self-regulation in the AI industry.
Trump compared the document to “a constitution,” and said there was “a lot of commonality”.
The document said that “In order to build a positive future for the American people and the world, we believe every company is responsible for developing its own technology safely and in a way that builds trust with customers and the public.”
The Superintelligence Accord laid out four methods to police AI research and prevent the technology from flying off the rails.
These four principles are:
Implement robust internal controls to monitor the capabilities and alignment of its models during training and deployment around areas like cybersecurity, biosecurity, and chemical threats, and to ensure that its models do not hack or access technical systems in unintended ways.
Empower an internal team to ensure all of the controls, monitoring, and detection are operating as intended, and that any issues are remediated.
Partner with an independent external auditor or evaluator to carry out independent assessments of whether the controls, monitoring, and detection are operating as intended.
Designate an independent committee of the board of directors to oversee and receive reports from the teams operating the controls and the internal and external auditors and evaluators, as well as to ensure any issues identified are remediated.
AI is becoming one of the major issues in the 2026 election and will continue to be so in the 2028 Presidential Election.
President Trump doesn’t believe in government regulation.
Trump’s argument to Americans is that AI is technology that will spur the next economic boom.
Many Americans worry that the AI CEOs, like Amodei and Musk, who are predicting it would eliminate 90% of white-collar jobs and potentially humanity, are providing an accurate risk assessment.
Now it will be up to the public whether they believe the White House Accord on Superintelligence is a sufficient guardrail.
