Nancy Pelosi was public enemy number one to Republicans for two decades.
That’s why this was so hard to take.
And one gut-wrenching confession about Nancy Pelosi will leave Trump in a state of shock.
Congressional Republicans spent two years wasting their majorities by failing to pass President Trump’s agenda.
RINO Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) refused to terminate the filibuster to pass the SAVE Act.
House Speaker Mike Johnson couldn’t have been bothered to codify Trump’s immigration agenda into law, meaning a Democratic President can throw open the border and eliminate deportations by executive order if they win in 2028.
That led to former Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Sunshine lamenting on CNN that Republicans didn’t have a leader in Congress like Nancy Pelosi, since Pelosi was able to pass Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s agenda come hell or high water.
“One of my complaints about Republicans generally is that we can never seem to just be one team, coalesce around something. You know, I’ll give it to Democrats, like, when Nancy Pelosi was running the House, you know, she knew how to get people to fall in line. And one of the things I watch congressional Republicans always fall prey to is when they are handed power, we often spend it squabbling amongst ourselves rather than actually wielding power effectively,” Sunshine stated.
Trump has publicly ripped House and Senate Republicans for failing to pass critical bills like the SAVE Act, and Sunshine said Trump was right to be angry since the only reason Johnson and Thune had majorities in the first place was due to Trump’s coattails.
“And I do think the president’s right that there is a perception that voters have always viewed him differently than the rest of Republicans. That’s always been something unique about his political brand. They see him differently from the rest of the Republicans, and he is different in many ways. But so many of these Republicans came to Congress on his coattails. I mean, Republicans do control the House and the Senate, and there is a faction of the Republican base that has not been pleased that something like the SAVE Act hasn’t been able to get passed,” Sunshine added.
Sunshine said Thune liked to make excuses for not abolishing the filibuster about not having the voters, but Sunshine noted Pelosi was able to twist arms and force Democrats to take votes they didn’t want to.
That kind of win-at-all-costs leadership is what Pelosi brought to the table that Sunshine explained Republicans in Congress lacked.
“And, you know, you hear from Thune, well, I don’t have the votes; we would have to nuke the filibuster, but I think Republicans expect leadership more like Nancy. I wish we had Nancy Pelosi in the Republican Party!” Sunshine concluded.
