Schumer isn’t used to not getting his way.
And Chuck Schumer exploded with rage at Fox News over this bitter defeat.
Chuck Schumer lost his cool and began shouting gibberish when Fox News Congressional correspondent Chad Pergram attempted to ask him about the Michigan Senate primary contest between Bernie Sanders-backed candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Schumer’s handpicked candidate, Congresswoman Haley Stevens.
“Quiet. You can’t yell that loud,” Schumer scolded Pergram as Pergram tried to ask Schumer about the race.
Schumer then became tongue-tied and couldn’t even speak in proper sentences; he was so angry.
“You’re louding even yeller than you used to,” Schumer blabbered.
“Will you call on me too?” Pergram asked.
“Well, I call on you. I do. You get your chances,” Schumer continued.
When Schumer finally got around to answering about the race, his contempt for El-Sayed was evident as Schumer couldn’t even bring himself to say El-Sayed’s name when asked if his winning the primary would make it harder for Democrats to defeat Republican Mike Rogers.
“In Michigan, we are going to beat the Republicans. We’re going to take Michigan, and we’re going to win back the Senate,” Schumer declared.
“We are going to win Michigan, take back the Senate, and have the majority,” Schumer added.
“Look, we are a big tent party, and being a big tent party is a strength, not a weakness,” Schumer went on to say when asked about the prospect of socialists seizing power in the party and nominating unelectable candidates.
El-Sayed ended up narrowly defeating Stevens after the polls forecast an El-Sayed blowout.
The race became a referendum on Israel’s status inside the Democrat Party and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) spending.
Schumer recruited Stevens, who is a strong supporter of Israel who once said “Israel comes to me in my dreams!” to take on El-Sayed, who backs ending military aid to Israel.
AIPAC pumped $30 million into the race, part of an overall $60 million in outside money benefiting Stevens, to try and defeat El-Sayed.
El-Sayed’s win in the face of the AIPAC onslaught and Schumer lining up the party’s institutional support behind Stevens, retiring Democrat Senator Gary Peters and Governor Gretchen Whitmer endorsed Stevens, proved two truths about the Democrat Party in 2026.
First, Israel has no base of support inside the Democrat Party, and every 2028 contender will oppose continued United States backing for Israel.
Second, the Democrat Party establishment is facing a full-on revolt where the base is no longer in line when party leaders try to guide their preferred candidates through the primaries.
In this sense, the left is experiencing their version of the Tea Party uprising in 2010, where the base is seizing control of the primary nominating process, but in this case, socialists determined to tear America down are emerging as the big winners.
