The Democrats have been on the attack against President Trump pretty much since the first day he was in office.
And almost every single time they say they’ve got a new way to ruin the President it turns out to be untrue or the jury is still out (i.e. the ongoing Russia investigation).
Now that Cohen just testified (which probably won’t do much to lock Trump up) the Democrats are looking for a new chink in the President’s armor.
And as of Monday the 4th of March, there’s a rumor that they’ve found said chink.
A New Chink In Trump’s Armor?
The Democrats believe there’s something going on in the Trump clan that could one day result in the President being impeached.
They’re under the impression that part of Trump’s family who met at Trump Tower in 2016 may have had illegal contact with a Russian lawyer who worked with (or for) the Kremlin to advance plans to have a property built in Moscow.
This meeting supposedly went over how Trump’s team could pay off two women (Stormy Daniels) and keep it quiet, so Trump could make a successful run at the office in the 2020 elections,
The Hill writes:
“Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee unleashed a sprawling probe of President Trump’s family, campaign, business and administration on Monday that includes more than 80 requests for documents.
The investigation under Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) will focus on three key areas: obstruction of justice, public corruption and abuses of power. Nadler rolled out the expansive investigation less than a week after the president’s former attorney Michael Cohen delivered explosive public testimony against him on Capitol Hill.”
Nadler has accused Trump in obstructing investigations of this sort ever since he took office. According to Nadler Trump’s gone out of his way to prevent Congress from performing basic oversights.
Nadler said in a statement that Trump is guilty of “evading accountability for his near-daily attacks on our basic legal, ethical, and constitutional rules and norms.”
“Investigating these threats to the rule of law is an obligation of Congress and a core function of the House Judiciary Committee,” Nadler said. “We have seen the damage done to our democratic institutions in the two years that the Congress refused to conduct responsible oversight. Congress must provide a check on abuses of power.”
Trump Will Not Accept Accusations
As to be expected, Trump said this new sweeping investigation is nothing but a grand hoax.
And also as expected, Trump is willing to work with the investigators.
That’s the thing the Democrats don’t realize about Trump; he’s more than happy to comply with their requests because as he sees it, there’s no reason for him to become defensive as he knows there’s nothing to hide.
Even though the investigation will subpoena documents from former AG Jeff Sessions as well as Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization’s chief financial officer who emerged as a key person of interest during Cohen’s public testimony last week, Trump doesn’t seem worried in the slightest.
“Presidential Harassment by ‘crazed’ Democrats at the highest level in the history of our Country,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Likewise, the most vicious and corrupt Mainstream Media that any president has ever had to endure – Yet the most successful first two years for any … President. We are WINNING big, the envy of the WORLD, but just think what it could be?”
