Democrats have made Russian election interference a boogeyman to make excuses for electoral failures.
Anti-Trump journalists and elected Democratic officials pushed the fake news that Russia “meddled” in the election as part of an effort to elect Donald Trump president.
But the left’s biggest lie about Russia just blew up in their faces.
The left believes that Russia spending money on Facebook ads and bot social media accounts to push talking points was part of a coordinated effort that was successful to elect Donald Trump president.
This false narrative was fed by the Obama administration’s politically charged intelligence community assessment that claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered the election meddling in order to elect Donald Trump.
Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee released a report disagreeing with this assessment and pointed out that Russia’s true motivation was to sow discord and division in U.S. politics.
Anti-Trump journalists have been pressing Trump to admit his election was rigged and voice support for the Obama administration’s finding that Putin personally intervened in the election on his behalf.
The President has refused to fall for this trap and even fought back by tweeting that the Russian election spending in 2018 would most likely help the Democrats.
Trump tweeted:
I’m very concerned that Russia will be fighting very hard to have an impact on the upcoming Election. Based on the fact that no President has been tougher on Russia than me, they will be pushing very hard for the Democrats. They definitely don’t want Trump!
The media howled in outrage with CNBC calling the claim “wild” and the Washington Post claims the tweet was made “without evidence.”
But as usual, Trump was right and the so-called “journalists” at the fake news outlets were shown to be liars.
Facebook recently announced they had shut down 32 pages and fake accounts the social network site had been engaging in election influencing behavior similar to 2016.
But there was one big catch.
The pages were promoting left-wing political activism to support abolishing ICE and organizing a liberal protest to counter last year’s white supremacist rally in Charlottesville.
“At this point in our investigation, we do not have enough technical evidence to state definitively who is behind it,” Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy stated. “But we can say that these accounts engaged in some similar activity and have connected with known I.R.A accounts.”
Other pages were named after left-wing political causes like “Black Elevation” and “Resisters.”
The fake news media has tried to portray Russian election efforts as a pro-Republican effort.
But that has never been the case.
Even in Robert Mueller’s indictment of 13 Russian nationals and three Russian internet marketing companies, the special counsel’s office detailed how the Russian election activities were on both sides of the political aisle.
The same is true in 2018.
While a report that Russians tried to hack Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill’s email account, the report that Facebook shut down a bunch of left-leaning Russian bot accounts and pages demonstrates that the true goal of any effort by Moscow is to sow division and not help one party over the other.
If any entity was complicit in Russia’s election activities it was the so-called “mainstream” media.
By playing up Russia’s efforts – which no serious political observer believes in their heart of hearts had any effect on the outcome of the election – the media has amplified Russia’s efforts to sow division in America by convincing large swaths of the population that the 2016 election was not on the level.
It was a lie that Russia’s activities were solely conducted to elect Donald Trump.
And the latest revelations from Facebook – where the social media giant shut down a bunch of Russian bots and accounts promoting liberal political causes ahead of the midterms – proves it.
