It was a massive gift to the Democrats.
Trump thought there were forces conspiring against him.
And now Donald Trump will be red with rage when he sees how the FBI meddled in the 2020 election.
In October 2020, federal prosecutors filed charges against members of a Michigan militia group called the Wolverine Watchmen for attempting to kidnap Michigan’s Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Whitmer emerged a major foil for Trump during the coronavirus pandemic by regularly appearing on TV and attacking the Trump administration’s response with misleading or out of context claims.
Whitmer then enraged many Michiganders with one of the strictest lockdowns in the country.
The lockdown generated more controversy as Whitmer and her family members repeatedly violated the order.
Corporate media members seized on the charges to attack Donald Trump for radicalizing America and encouraging domestic terrorism – Trump previously tweeted that it was time to “liberate Michigan” from the lockdown by reopening the economy.
The indictment served as a gift to Joe Biden who campaigned on a message to “heal the soul of the nation.”
Any political violence is abhorrent and if individuals are plotting to kidnap elected officials, they deserve to pay the price.
However, the left-wing website BuzzFeed examined documents and evidence in the case and found that the FBI placed at least 12 undercover informants in the group, and that the undercover informants were far more involved in planning the attempted kidnapping scheme than anyone realized.
FBI informants infiltrated the groups and helped plan the scheme and pushed it along every step of the way.
Even BuzzFeed wondered if this plot would have existed without the FBI informants’ involvement.
“An examination of the case by BuzzFeed News also reveals that some of those informants, acting under the direction of the FBI, played a far larger role than has previously been reported. Working in secret, they did more than just passively observe and report on the actions of the suspects. Instead, they had a hand in nearly every aspect of the alleged plot, starting with its inception. The extent of their involvement raises questions as to whether there would have even been a conspiracy without them,” BuzzFeed reported.
One of the FBI informants rose to become one of the group’s leaders and helped organize planning sessions and paid for other suspects to attend.
BuzzFeed also reported:
A longtime government informant from Wisconsin, for example, helped organize a series of meetings around the country where many of the alleged plotters first met one another and the earliest notions of a plan took root, some of those people say. The Wisconsin informant even paid for some hotel rooms and food as an incentive to get people to come.
The Iraq War vet, for his part, became so deeply enmeshed in a Michigan militant group that he rose to become its second-in-command, encouraging members to collaborate with other potential suspects and paying for their transportation to meetings. He prodded the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping plot to advance his plan, then baited the trap that led to the arrest.
One of the informants also helped placed another FBI informant in the group who claimed to be an explosive expert.
This informant offered to help the Watchmen obtain c4 explosives to blow up a bridge.
Prosecutors later used this episode to charge the Watchmen for “knowingly conspiring to use weapons of mass destructions against persons or property.”
Joe Biden’s administration is now using this prosecution as a crown jewel in their new domestic war on terror where Biden plans to use federal law enforcement to target Trump supporters, surveil them, and arrest them.
But when prosecutors announced these charges, pundits viewed them as a political gift to Biden in the closing weeks of the 2020 election.
