Donald Trump just announced his comeback.
That’s bad news for establishment Never Trump Republicans and the Democrat Party.
And the big announcement came when Donald Trump said five words about his plans for the next election that put jaws on the ground.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell thought he could have it both ways.
But then McConnell tried to appeal to the donor class by ripping Trump to shreds in a speech after the trial where McConnell appeared to demand Joe Biden’s Justice Department jail Trump.
If Donald Trump is anything he is a counterpuncher that will not let an attack go unanswered.
72 hours after McConnell’s speech and accompanying media tour where McConnell made it clear he intended to purge Trump from the GOP, Donald Trump struck back.
Trump released a statement blasting McConnell as a failed leader whose loyalties lie with the swamp and not the GOP’s rank-and-file voters.
“The Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political ‘leaders’ like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm. McConnell’s dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse,” Trump wrote.
Trump needled McConnell as a hapless incompetent incapable of fighting Chuck Schumer and the Democrats.
“The Democrats and Chuck Schumer play McConnell like a fiddle — they’ve never had it so good — and they want to keep it that way! We know our America First agenda is a winner, not McConnell’s Beltway First agenda or Biden’s America Last,” Trump continued.
For Trump there was only one solution.
And that was announcing that he‘will back primary challengers’ to the establishment RINOs McConnell announced his intention to support in GOP Senate primaries.
“He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our country,” Trump explained.
Trump declared that “where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”
Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse and other Never Trumpers in the Senate are destroying the Republican Party’s chances for victory in 2022 and 2024 by not uniting the Republican Party around support for the Make America Great Again agenda.
Donald Trump is the most popular figure in the GOP and won more votes than any Republican ever.
Instead of trying to build on the success of Trump’s movement, McConnell and his allies want to go back to the days of a Republican Party that never lifts a finger to fight because they know their role is to lose politely.
Donald Trump showed in 2016 that Republicans can win by junking this defeatist posture.
But Mitch McConnell refuses to learn this lesson because all McConnell cares about is being in charge.
