During his time in Congress, Trey Gowdy defended Donald Trump from the Democrats’ Russian collusion hoax.
But now everything changed.
And Trey Gowdy said Donald Trump should be disqualified from running for this mind-blowing reason.
Trey Gowdy spent the morning leading up to Donald Trump facing flimsy, politically motivated charges in New York from a Soros-funded prosecutor attacking Trump’s qualifications to be the GOP nominee in 2024.
Trump denied an affair with Stormy Daniels and that Michael Cohen paid her $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement.
Cohen told lawyer Robert Costello he made the payment without Trump’s knowledge to spare Melania Trump the embarrassment of the allegations going public.
Despite the denial from Trump — as well as past statements by Daniels saying the affair never took place — Gowdy assumed Trump’s guilt in the matter and expressed exasperation that Trump’s poll numbers rose in the wake of Bragg using the payment to Daniels as the centerpiece for his joke indictment.
“I think it’s kinda staggering that you can be accused of something that involves an adult film star, and it not hurt you in a Republican primary,” Gowdy declared.
“If you told me you can pay off a playmate and an adult film star and actually go up in the polling in a Republican primary I would have told you you were crazy,” Gowdy concluded.

A McLaughlin and Associates poll taken in the wake of the indictment showed why Trump’s numbers in the GOP primary went up.
The poll found a plurality of Americans believed Bragg’s charges against Trump were politically motivated.
“Most general election voters see the justice system being highly politicized. A plurality of voters, 48%, agree with the statement ‘Joe Biden and the radical left have weaponized the justice system to prosecute their political opponents.’ Only 39% disagreed. Republican primary voters agreed with this statement 82% to 11%,” the McLaughlin and Associates polling memo read.
Over the past several weeks Gowdy made multiple comments that left Fox News viewers scratching their heads.
Gowdy attacked Trump after Trump criticized Ron DeSantis.
Gowdy also offered full-throated support for red flag gun confiscation laws which allow anti-gun Democrat prosecutors and judges to order government agents to barge into the homes of Americans and seize their firearms without due process or without convicting them of a crime.
Trey Gowdy clearly believes the GOP needs a different candidate.
But Gowdy is allowing his anti-Trump feelings to cloud his judgment and ignore the fact that Bragg is charging Trump for covering a nonexistent crime that Bragg never named or accused Trump of committing.
