Donald Trump fired the first shot in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.
Trump’s target shocked everyone.
And the gloves are off after the bomb Donald Trump just dropped on Ron DeSantis.
In the fallout from the disappointing 2022 midterm election, establishment Republicans saw their opportunity to attempt to purge Donald Trump and his supporters from the party.
Media mogul Rupert Murdoch – who owns Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post – used all his properties to slam Trump as a drag on the GOP ticket and blame Trump for the party’s dismal showing.
But what upset Trump the most was the fact that many conservatives saw Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s 19-point thrashing of Democrat Charlie Crist – where DeSantis won 57 percent of the Hispanic vote – as the path forward for the party.
DeSantis is rumored to be considering a 2024 presidential campaign even if Trump runs, and Trump unloaded on Murdoch and DeSantis in a statement.
Trump called DeSantis “DeSanctimonious” and claimed DeSantis was an “average” governor.
“NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations,” Trump began.
Many conservatives would dispute that claim noting that DeSantis successfully fought back against Dr. Fauci’s tyrannical COVID shutdowns, banned mask mandates as well as vaccine passports, and pushed back against woke corporations like Disney that tried to strongarm Florida into accepting the left’s dangerous transgender ideology for children.
Trump then stated that he endorsed DeSantis in 2018 which propelled DeSantis to the governor’s mansion.
“I then got Ron by the ‘Star’ of the Democrat Party, Andrew Gillum (who was later revealed to be a ‘Crack Head’), by having two massive Rallies with tens of thousands of people at each one I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart,” Trump added.
Trump then complained that DeSantis would not disavow running for president even if Trump launched a re-election bid.
“The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,’” Trump added.
“Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer,” Trump concluded.
Polls show Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are the two frontrunners for the 2024 Republican GOP nomination.
But DeSantis is not yet in the race and has never said a cross word about Trump.
That’s why many conservatives were dismayed to see Trump pick an unprovoked fight with Governor DeSantis when the only ones who benefited were Democrats looking for divisions on the right.
