Leftists are running to favorable judges to stop Donald Trump’s agenda.
The latest example was a district court judge in San Francisco who ruled against Trump’s executive order on defunding sanctuary cities.
But his shocking past reveals a major issue.
San Francisco federal judge William Orrick issued a preliminary injunction in two lawsuits against Trump’s immigration executive orders.
The Associated Press reports:
“A federal judge on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s attempt to withhold funding from “sanctuary cities” that do not cooperate with U.S. immigration officials, saying the president has no authority to attach new conditions to federal spending.
U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the preliminary injunction in two lawsuits — one brought by the city of San Francisco, the other by Santa Clara County — against an executive order targeting communities that protect immigrants from deportation.
The injunction will stay in place while the lawsuits work their way through court.”
But a closer look at Orrick’s past exposes a fierce partisan who is no neutral arbiter.
Orrick was a Democrat fundraiser who bundled $100,000 for John Kerry’s Presidential campaign and $200,000 for Barack Obama’s White House bid.
He is also a mega-donor who forked over $30,800 in campaign contributions to committees supporting Barack Obama.
But that’s not all.
Orrick is a radical leftist who previously issued a ruling that blocked the Center for Medical Progress from releasing videos exposing Planned Parenthood as butchers who chop up babies in order to sell the body parts for profit.
The Federalist reports:
A federal judge late Friday granted a temporary restraining order against the release of recordings made at an annual meeting of abortion providers. The injunction is against the Center for Medical Progress, the group that has unveiled Planned Parenthood’s participation in the sale of organs harvested from aborted children.
Judge William H. Orrick, III, granted the injunction just hours after the order was requested by the National Abortion Federation.
Orrick was nominated to his position by hardline abortion supporter President Barack Obama. He was also a major donor to and bundler for President Obama’s presidential campaign. He raised at least $200,000 for Obama and donated $30,800 to committees supporting him, according to Public Citizen.
So it’s not surprising Orrick issued a ridiculous ruling citing Trump’s campaign rhetoric as a reason to block his executive order.
But all Trump’s executive order did was state the government would now enforce current immigration law – a 1996 statute passed under Bill Clinton which allowed the government to withhold funds from jurisdictions that refused to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
So Orrick is really a political activist masquerading as a judge.
It’s no surprise the case ended up in his court.
Left wing activists filed the case in his jurisdiction to obtain a favorable ruling.
But this isn’t the end.
Trump tweeted that he will see them at the Supreme Court.
