The Democratic base is rallying around Elizabeth Warren as their new champion.
Many are clamoring for her to be their 2020 standard bearer in the re-election campaign against Donald Trump.
But a new poll has some surprising news about her chances.
A Morning Consult/Politico poll shows Trump would easily defeat Elizabeth Warren in a Presidential contest.
“But, in the fourth week of Trump’s presidency, a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll shows that Democrats could be in trouble — and Trump could triumph — if they continues their lurch to the left.
Despite the public’s increasing misgivings about Trump’s behavior and tactics in the White House, he still beats Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in a hypothetical matchup, 42 percent to 36 percent — a fairly impressive margin for an less-than-popular president against the prominent senator.
The poll results — from a survey conducted Feb. 9 and Feb. 10, just days after Warren was silenced by the GOP-controlled Senate for her criticism of now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions — plainly show peril for both parties. Trump, for his part, has used the epithet “Pocahontas” to mock Warren, in a reference to her claims of Native American ancestry in her academic career.”
The poll also finds Trump’s approval ratings are holding steady, in spite of an unprecedented media smear campaign against him.
The survey showed Trump had a 49 percent approval rating compared to a 45 percent disapproval rating.
But the key percentage was for Warren.
Warren is a far-left radical who is currently in tune with the “resistance” being demanded by the Democratic base.
She became a superstar because she violated Senate rules when she smeared Jeff Sessions in a speech during his confirmation and then was forced to stop speaking.
Hillary Clinton even tweeted her support.
“She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”

But the move played right into Trump’s hands.
A radical leftist who embraces the left’s identity politics does not match up well with Trump.
And while early polls have already shown she would be a loser in that contest, it’s not likely to deter Warren or her supporters.
She has captured the hearts and minds of self-styled “resistance” activists.
However, Warren’s radical ideology and culture warrior persona repel the rest of America.
Which is likely why she would lose.
