There is more brutal news on the way for the Democrat Party.
It’s impossible to avoid how ugly this scandal keeps growing.
A Democrat senator’s shocking connection to a man’s death will put your jaw on the ground.
Federal prosecutors indicting New Jersey Democrat Senator Bob Menendez, his wife, and three businessmen on bribery and corruption charges are calling new attention to Menendez’s wife’s role in a 2018 auto accident where she struck and killed 49-year-old Richard Koop as he crossed the street in Bogota, New Jersey.
Nadine Arslanian was engaged to Menendez at the time when she was driving her Mercedes-Benz and struck Koop on a darkened street.
“It was a cold evening in December 2018, and Nadine Arslanian, the soon-to-be wife of Senator Robert Menendez, was zipping through the darkened streets of suburban New Jersey in a black Mercedes-Benz sedan. She would later tell the police she did not see the man stepping out in front of her to cross a busy thoroughfare,” The New York Times exclusively reported.
“The crash that ensued just after 7:30 p.m. killed the man, Richard Koop, 49, almost instantly. His body was thrown to the curb just steps from his home and badly mangled, according to the Bergen County medical examiner,” the Times report continued.
Federal prosecutors cited this incident – which severely damaged Arslanian’s vehicle – as the impetus for Menendez and his wife allegedly accepting a $60,000 Mercedes-Benz in exchange for Senator Menendez interfering in a criminal investigation.
“Prosecutors said in those charging papers that Ms. Menendez needed a car so badly after a December 2018 ‘accident’ that the senator, a Democrat, was willing to try to suppress an unrelated criminal prosecution for a New Jersey businessman in exchange for a $60,000 Mercedes convertible. The fatal collision with Mr. Koop on Dec. 12 matches prosecutors’ terse description of the December 2018 crash,” the Times report continued.
There are now questions if Menendez intervened in this investigation or if Nadine received favorable treatment because of her relationship with Senator Menendez.
Police also never tested Nadine for drugs or alcohol at the scene of the accident and let her go stating that Koop wasn’t crossing the street using the proper crosswalk.
The police report also included the detail that the officers on the scene knew who Nadine was and that a retired police officer who said he lived nearby claimed he came to the scene of the accident as a “favor” to someone who knew Nadine.
“There were reasons for suspicion at the time. One witness at the scene said in an interview that officers appeared to know who Ms. Menendez was and treated her with striking deference. Police recordings captured the voice of a man who identifies himself as a retired police officer from a nearby department. He can be heard saying he came to the scene as ‘a favor’ to a friend whose wife knew Ms. Menendez,” the Times report added.
Senator Menendez so far refuses to step down claiming the charges against him are racist.
Democrats are terrified that Menendez’s presence on the ballot will put a safe Senate seat in play during an election where Democrats are looking at a difficult map with incumbents running for re-election in ruby-red states like Ohio, Montana and West Virginia.
The details of Menendez’s arrest – where federal agents recovered $100,000 in gold bars – were bad enough.
But the prosecutors’ claim that Menendez allegedly accepted a new Mercedes as a bribe after his wife smashed up her car in an accident that left a man dead – and where there are now questions about political influence playing a role in letting his wife off – could prove too much for a Democrat to overcome even in deep-blue New Jersey.
