So far, the 2024 Republican presidential primary has been a snoozer.
That may be all set to change.
And Megyn Kelly revealed Donald Trump is planning this 2024 surprise.
The Republican National Committee finally ditched the liberal media outlets that host GOP presidential debates where liberal moderators attack Republican presidential candidates.
On December 6th, NewsNation will co-host the next GOP debate in conjunction with the conservative Washington Free Beacon and “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
Kelly, Washington Free Beacon editor-in-chief Eliana Johnson and NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas will co-moderate the debate giving conservatives a seat at the table for the first time.
The RNC dumping liberal media outlets and moderators may also lead to a shakeup in the debate lineup.
That’s because TMZ reported the Secret Service scoped out the Moody Music Building Concert Hall located at the University of Alabama – site of the debate – to get a sense of the building’s setup and any potential security vulnerabilities.
Donald Trump is the only candidate in the GOP race with a Secret Service detail and this led to some speculation that Trump may be planning to attend the debate.
“Donald Trump may be thinking about going head-to-head with the other Republicans who are challenging him for the presidential nomination because we’ve learned the Secret Service has already scoped out the venue,” TMZ exclusively reported.
“The next debate is scheduled for December 6 at the Moody Music Building Concert Hall at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The debate will be carried live on NewsNation. The network announced last Thursday it will host the debate, and sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … that same day Secret Service agents came to the venue and walked the premises … inside and out,” TMZ also reported.
Kelly – who famously clashed with Trump at the first GOP presidential debate during the 2016 primary – welcomed the news that Trump was considering attending.
“This would be SPECTACULAR! Mr. President, you would be more than welcome and we would love to have you. Let’s give the people what they want – debate #4 on 12/6 airing on News Nation,” Kelly posted on X.
But this may be a case of wishful thinking.
Trump hasn’t attended any of the debates reasoning that since Trump led his rivals by such massive margins in the polls it would only serve to elevate the other Republicans by getting a chance to appear on equal footing with the 45th president.
And Trump’s security detail likely cased the Moody Music Building Concert Hall as precaution in case, for some reason, Trump decided out of the blue on the day of the debate that he wanted to attend.
New polling data out of Iowa showed why it is unlikely Trump would show up.
An Iowa State/Civiqs poll taken after Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shows Trump crushing DeSantis by 36 points.

The Reynolds endorsement made no difference as 63 percent of respondents said Reynolds backing DeSantis didn’t affect their vote and the majority of people who said it did were already supporting DeSantis anyway.
DeSantis bet his entire campaign on Iowa and as long as polls show Trump holding a yawning lead over the Florida governor there is no chance Trump will show up at any debates.
