Democrats found another reason to harbor anger towards the United States Supreme Court.
But this time the source of the left’s anger was one unexpected cause.
And this Supreme Court justice left liberals stunned with a mind-blowing revelation.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an icon on the American left.
Liberals viewed the “Notorious RBG” as a folk hero for carrying the banner for the extreme cultural liberalism and identity politics that came to dominate the Democrat Party in the later years of her life.
Ginsburg served as a model for the left’s ideal Supreme Court justice as Ginsburg never voted against the Democrat Party’s political interests in key cases and would often reverse-engineer her rulings – meaning Ginsburg began with the politically motivated outcome she desired and worked backwards from there to develop a legal rationale for the ruling.
But now liberals are stunned.
Left-wing corporate media activist Katie Couric admitted in her memoir “Going There” that Couric edited out Ginsburg’s opposition to Colin Kaepernick’s anti-American national anthem protest.
Ginsburg told Couric that Kaepernick disrespecting dead veterans by kneeling for the national anthem showed a “contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and grandparents to live a decent life … Which they probably could not have lived in the places they came from … as they became older, they realize that this was youthful folly. And that’s why education is important,” Ginsburg told Couric at the time. “I think it’s a terrible thing to do, but I wouldn’t lock a person up for doing it. I would point out how ridiculous it seems to me to do such an act.”
Immediately, Couric knew she had a problem on her hands.
Ginsburg’s comments would undercut support on the left for Kaepernick’s protests and would also aid Donald Trump’s presidential campaign as opposition to woke politics fueled the backlash in the electorate to cultural liberalism that powered Trump’s ultimately victorious effort.
Couric cut Ginsburg’s opposition to the national anthem protests out of the Yahoo interview claiming that Ginsburg was “elderly and probably didn’t fully understand the question.”
Incidentally, if Couric believed Ginsburg was too old and senile to understand a question about Colin Kaepernick then Couric should have sounded the alarm that Ginsburg’s brain no longer functioned at a high enough level to serve on the Supreme Court.
This is not the first time Couric got caught red-handed in a bit of politically motivated editing.
In a 2016 documentary entitled “Under the Gun,” Couric deceptively edited an interview with members of the pro-gun Virginia Citizens Defense League to make them look foolish.
The documentary showed Couric asking the pro-Second Amendment activists,“Let me ask you another question: If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?”
What followed was ten seconds of silence to make it appear as if Couric completely stumped the gun rights advocates.
But that is not at all what happened.
One of the VCDL members recorded the conversation which told a different story.
Couric’s question was much longer, and the left-wing journalist admitted the VCDL members had an answer at the ready.
“If there are no background checks, how do you prevent — I know how you all are going to answer this, but I’m going to ask it anyway. If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from walking into, say, a licensed gun dealer and purchasing a gun?” Couric asked.
“Well, one — if you’re not in jail, you should still have your basic rights,” one of the VCDL members shot back.
Polls show trust in the media declining to historically low levels.
The corporate media earned every ounce of that mistrust because activists like Couric shape their stories to advance their preferred political narrative instead of just reporting the truth.
