In the final months of his presidency, Barack Obama strived to leave a legacy to prove he had held office for two terms.
Between establishing ridiculous legislative acts such as the use of bathrooms by transgender individuals, to forcing Americans to purchase terrible health insurance at a high premium, Obama’s legacy was one of disaster.
Now, a recent study has proven that one of his biggest self-proclaimed accomplishments was actually a huge failure.
Obama claimed he left office with the unemployment rate at an “all-time low.”
But a study released by the National Bureau of Economic Research proves otherwise.
The study was done to show the lasting effects of unemployment in the country, and how they it relates to the increasing drug use in America, particularly in the unemployed and homeless sector.
Breitbart News reports:
“We use county-level mortality data for the entire U.S. from 1999-2014, and state and county level ED data covering 2002-2014 from a subset of states. We find that as the county unemployment rate increases by 1 percentage point, the opioid death rate (per 100k) rises by 0.19 (3.6%) and the ED visit rate for opioid overdoses (per 100k) increases by 0.95 (7.0%). We also uncover statistically significant increases in the overall drug death rate that are mostly driven by increases in opioid deaths.
These results also hold when performing a state, rather than county, level analysis. In most specifications, the results are primarily driven by adverse events among whites. Additionally, the findings are relatively stable across time periods; they do not pertain only to recession years, but instead represent a more generalizable and previously unexplored connection between economic development and the severe adverse consequences of substance abuse. That is a remarkably consistent and steep relationship between unemployment rates and deaths from opioid drug abuse”
Another study was released showing a trend between unemployment and single parents who have to depend on government-handouts as a result.
Breitbart News reports:
“Also, given the generosity of welfare programs, it really is a question of needing work rather than money, with all of the physical and spiritual gains delivered by productive activity. Of course, there are many individuals who can cope with long-term unemployment in healthy ways but projected across a vast population; the decline of the workforce casts a distinct Grim Reaper shadow.
Another intriguing study is called “When Work Disappears: Manufacturing Decline and the Falling Marriage-Market Value of Men.” Here again, the researchers have calculated a pronounced relationship between unemployment and an unhealthy social trend: single parenting.”
Essentially, the second study provided information on the amount of unemployed single parents who need to find work rather than rely on government-handouts, a favorite bailout of President Obama’s.
Ultimately, Obama pushed this false information to establish favor and cement his legacy.
But the fact of the matter is that his supposed legacy of having the lowest unemployment rate was built on lies.
Breitbart News reported:
“The unemployment rate declined from 7.6 percent in January 2009 to 4.9 percent in October 2016.
While the number of employed increased by 9.8 million and the number of unemployed decreased by 3.8 million, the number of Americans not in the labor force increased by 13.5 million while the civilian non-institutional population increased by 19.8 million.”
What are your thoughts?
Do you believe the unemployment rate actually dropped in America?
Or, do you believe it was just based on lies?
