Joe Biden’s presidency crumbled under the weight of the failure and humiliation coming out of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Democrats did not race to cable TV shows to defend Joe Biden’s incompetent execution in bringing American troops home.
And now Nancy Pelosi said two words about Afghanistan that Democrats will live to regret.
Joe Biden largely remained in hiding as the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated over just a few days.
The Taliban triumphantly rolled into Kabul capturing the capital city.
Afghans fell off airplanes in midair killing many trying to flee the country.
And to top it all off, Biden deserted anywhere from 10,000 to 40,000 American citizens behind Taliban lines as they hid in their houses in fear for their lives after the Biden administration announced it could not guarantee their safety if they tried to travel to the Kabul Airport to reach American military evacuation planes.
In light of this humiliating defeat occurring on Joe Biden’s watch, Nancy Pelosi tried to tell KPIX in San Francisco that Joe Biden was “decisive” and “strong” despite the incompetence of the withdrawal plan being obvious for all to see.
“Well, first, may I just say that I commend the president for the action that he took. It was strong. It was decisive. And it was the right thing to do. We should have been out of Afghanistan a while back. But now, we are — unfortunately, one of the possibilities was that it would be in disarray, as it is. But that has to be corrected. And it is my understanding, from the assurances we have received, that the military will be there, negotiating with the Taliban for the safe exit of American citizens and friends, people who have helped us, our allies there, and people who work in the nonprofit sector, but also, not just U.S. NGOs, but those who have worked in Afghan NGOs as well, who would be targets,” Pelosi stated.
There is a reason Democrat members of Congress did not appear on television to defend Biden.
No one wanted to defend the indefensible.
Many Americans were appalled by what they saw on social media cable news as the Taliban set up check points around the airport as American helicopters evacuated embassy personnel in a scene that reminded many of the humiliating fall of Saigon in 1975.
Thoseare the last words many would use about Joe Biden’s poorly executed withdrawal that tossed thousands of American citizens to the Taliban death squads now searching for them.
Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal will stick with Democrats for the next several years.
Republicans will demand to know if Democrats agree with Nancy Pelosi that Joe Biden’s actions in Afghanistan – where he abandoned American citizens to the fate of death of Taliban hostages and then hid from the public – were “strong” and “decisive.”
