House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suffered a humiliating personal rebuke.
Pelosi did not handle the accusation well.
And Nancy Pelosi melted down after getting called out for breaking this sacred law.
Nancy Pelosi claims she is a devout Catholic.
Pelosi’s assertion of her supposed deeply held faith runs counter to her support for abortion on demand with no restrictions.
The Catholic Church’s teaching is ironclad on the matter.
Abortion is the murder of innocent human life.
Even the ultra-liberal Pope Francis called abortion a great moral evil.
San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone sent a letter to Pelosi informing Pelosi that without going to confession she was in a state of mortal sin and could no longer receive communion in her hometown archdiocese.
Pelosi lashed out at Archbishop Cordileone in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
The speaker of the House attacked the Catholic Church and Archbishop Cordileone as hypocrites for defending the sanctity of human life.
“What is important for women to know and families to know that this is not just about terminating a pregnancy. These same people are against contraception, family planning and in-vitro fertilization,” Pelosi ranted. “It’s a blanket thing, and they use abortion as a frontman for it while they try to undo so much. That’s what they try to do in the Affordable Care Act, which didn’t have anything to do with terminating a pregnancy.”
Pelosi then brought up her opposition to the death penalty, which the Catholic Church also strongly opposes.
“I wonder about the death penalty, which I am opposed to, so is the Church. But they take no action against people who may not share their view,” Pelosi added. “Thank you for referencing the Gospel of Matthew, which is sort of the agenda of the Church that is rejected by many who side with them on terminating a pregnancy. So, we just have to be prayerful, we have to be respectful.”
This comment shows Pelosi does not know anything about the faith she claims to deeply hold.
The Catholic Church does not condemn officials who support the death penalty because in the New Testament Jesus affirmed support for the right of government to put the guilty to death.
It is true that the Catholic Church opposes the death penalty, but it does not draw the same line on capital punishment as abortion because abortion 100 percent of the time takes an innocent human life.
And Pelosi also made a bizarre point about how because Archbishop Cordileone upholds Church teaching on the radical homosexual agenda it’s somehow wrong from him to enforce the Catholic Church catechism on abortion.
“Now our archbishop has been vehemently against LGBTQ rights, too. In fact, he led the way on an initiative on the ballot in California. So, this decision taking us to privacy and precedent is very dangerous in the lives of so many of the American people and, again, not consistent with the Gospel of Matthew,” Pelosi stated.
What Pelosi does not want to answer for is her adoption of an extremist position on abortion – access to abortion up until the moment of birth – that is so extreme just 25 percent of the public supports and a top church official in her hometown finally stepped in and admonished Pelosi for going too far.
