Mitt Romney is the Godfather of the Never Trump movement and the Democrats’ best friend in the Senate.
But in the heat of the Presidential Election, Mitt Romney crossed the aisle to aid the Democrats’ effort to defeat President Trump.
And Mitt Romney just endorsed Joe Biden with this jaw-dropping statement.
Mitt Romney stayed quiet this election cycle.
Romney doesn’t want to alienate Republicans because he hopes President Trump loses so Romney and his establishment RINO pals can reassert control over the party.
But with just weeks to go before Election Day, Romney displayed the pathetic political instincts that led to two failed presidential bids.
Romney tweeted out a statement attacking Donald Trump because Trump criticized Democrats and Romney does not believe Democrats should be criticized under any circumstances.
“I have stayed quiet with the approach of the election,” Romney wrote. “But I’m troubled by our politics, as it has moved away from spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass that is unbecoming of any free nation — let alone the birthplace of modern democracy.”
Romney blasted the President for pointing out that Kamala Harris as President would be dangerous, that Barack Obama knew about the FBI spying on his campaign and that Nancy Pelosi was crazy.
These are all verifiable facts, but Romney could not stand for any Republican – let alone Donald Trump – attacking Democrats.
“The President calls the Democratic vice presidential candidate a ‘monster.’ He repeatedly labels the Speaker of the House ‘crazy,’” Romney added.
“He calls for the Justice Department to put the prior president in jail,” he added. “He attacks the governor of Michigan on the very day a plot is discovered to kidnap her.”
Romney tried to hide his endorsement for Joe Biden by couching his criticisms as a “pox on both your houses,” but his support for Joe Biden was unmistakable when Romney made a point to falsely claim that Joe Biden did not attack President Trump in personal terms.
“Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own — though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others,” Romney added.
This is a lie.
During a TV interview, Biden compared the President to Nazi head propagandist Joseph Goebbels and during the first debate called President Trump a clown.
Romney then claimed the President was feeding “conspiracy mongers” and “haters” while ignoring the fact that Romney fed conspiracy theories about Russian collusion which led to President Trump facing more hate than any American politician in history.
“The rabid attacks kindle the conspiracy mongers and the haters who take the small and predictable step from intemperate words to dangerous action. The world is watching America with abject horror; more consequentially, our children are watching,” Romney whined. “Many Americans are frightened for our country — so divided, so angry, so mean, so violent.”
After implicitly endorsing Joe Biden for President, many Republicans consider Mitt Romney a Democrat and wish he would make it official and change his party registration.
