Mike Pence served Donald Trump for four years as his Vice President.
Americans are now wondering what is next for both Trump and Pence.
And now Mike Pence took one new job that dropped one big hint about Trump’s 2024 plans.
Young Americans for Freedom President and former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker announced that Mike Pence would join the group to produce a podcast.
This move immediately stoked speculation about a Pence 2024 White House bid since Young Americans for Freedom sponsoring Ronald Reagan’s radio program in the late 1970s was Reagan’s launching pad for his victorious 1980 presidential campaign.
“Vice President Pence has been a stalwart defender of individual freedom, traditional values, free markets, and limited government throughout his career of distinguished service to our country,” Walker stated. “Now, by partnering with YAF, the Vice President will continue to attract new hearts and minds to the conservative cause, passing along the ideas of freedom—just as President Reagan did before, during, and after his time in office. Vice President Pence’s energy and enthusiasm for Ronald Reagan’s values has and will continue to inspire a new generation of young people.”
If that wasn’t hint enough that Pence was moving towards a White House bid, Pence’s former chief of staff Marc Short argued in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News that Donald Trump expanded the Republican Party tent and that Mike Pence was the logical successor to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement.
“Mike’s roots are in the conservative movement,” Short told Breitbart. “It’s the foundation for his philosophical and political views. But, President Trump brought in a large number of new voters into the party and into the movement. He’s focused on how do we continue to build upon that.”
The 2024 Republican primary field is largely frozen until Donald Trump makes a decision about his future.
Should Trump run, Never Trumpers like Maryland’s RINO Governor Larry Hogan or Nebraska’s Trump-hating Senator Ben Sasse would challenge President Trump.
But they would both get steamrolled.
Pence’s moves suggest that he believes Donald Trump is not running, but that Pence is still being careful not to take any overt steps towards a 2024 campaign just in case President Trump decides to get into the race.
Some Trump supporters were upset that Vice President Pence did not use his position to reject results of states’ Electoral College results on the grounds of voter fraud.
Pence read the Constitution and came to the conclusion that he did not have that power and instead just certified the results of the 2020 election.
At the end of the Trump presidency, Trump and Pence patched up their relationship which was important for Pence’s political prospects.
And right now, it looks like Mike Pence is preparing for Donald Trump not to run for president in 2024.
