Tucker Carlson is the most popular host on Fox News Channel.
But Carlson is in the middle of a massive controversy and not receiving much support from above.
And now Megyn Kelly exposed the horrible way Fox News tried to censor Tucker Carlson.
Kelly told Breaking Points’ Emily Jashinsky that Fox News refused to cover Carlson playing Capitol security camera footage from January 6.
Outside of a brief mention on Laura Ingraham’s show and piece on “Special Report” where host Bret Baier and Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram attacked Carlson’s framing of the matter Fox News was silent on one of the biggest exclusives the network obtained in recent years.
“But I think it’s true that most of the Fox dayside is not covering it. Bret Baier did one report, using their Capitol Hill producer Chad Pergram, which included some of the criticism, but it’s not like — I mean, trust me, I worked at Fox for many years, so if somebody gets a big, big scoop, you know, you ride it, you ride the wave, you, you blanket the channel with it,” Kelly told Jashinsky.
“You have it exclusively. It’s yours. Nobody else has it. The fact that it’s not ubiquitous across the channel definitely says something,” Kelly continued.
Jashinsky wondered if Fox News did not want to devote wall-to-wall coverage to Carlson’s reporting on January 6 because of Dominion’s $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox over 2020 election claims.
Kelly dismissed that idea since this was original reporting that is the work product of one of Fox’s biggest stars.
“But that’s no excuse not to ride your own reporting,” Kelly responded.
“Either you stand by it or you don’t. Either it belongs on the channel or it doesn’t, you know, either — If Tucker airs it, it’s fair game for the channel. You can’t just have — like run and hide once he breaks this big story, it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s not happening.’ That makes no sense to me,” Kelly added.
Conservatives believe something more sinister is going on.
Carlson remarked that both Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell blasted Fox News and Carlson for airing the footage.
Schumer demanded Fox News censor Tucker Carlson and McConnell slammed the segment as a mistake.
Fox News management could be downplaying or trying to ignore Carlson’s reporting with the knowledge that censoring Carlson outright would backfire big time, but having everyone else on the network ignore the report sends a signal Fox is willing to play ball.
If the establishment in both parties refused to send big-name guests on Fox and pass along scoops to their reporters Fox News would face a serious credibility crisis.
Fox News hosts pretending the Carlson January 6 report doesn’t exist could be management’s method of trying to appease the D.C. swamp.
