Joe Biden is facing calls for his impeachment over the humiliation in Afghanistan.
Some worried that meant Kamala Harris would ascend to the presidency.
Kamala Harris got hit with some really bad news about impeachment.
Republican members of Congress told POLITICO that they are receiving phone calls and pressure from the party base to impeach Joe Biden.
“It’s a grassroots pressure — we’re feeling it,”Barry Moore explained. “I think even some of the Democrats are feeling it.”
Not every Republican is yet on board warning that impeaching and removing Joe Biden from office means Kamala Harris takes over as president.
“Some Republicans say privately that they have raised the ascension of Vice President Kamala Harris to constituents as a reason why they are not behind impeachment,” POLITICO reports.
One Republican offered up a solution to that problem.
Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert told The Blaze host Glenn Beck that she would introduce articles of impeachment against both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
“I have legislation that will be introduced to impeach both Biden and [Vice President Kamala] Harris. And Nancy Pelosi can follow them out the freaking door,”Boebert told Beck.
But even with Boebert’s legislation, the entire GOP caucus is still not settled on impeachment.
One high-ranking Republican told POLITICO that some congressional Republicans will only pretend to support impeachment.
However, the senior Republican told POLITICO the GOP base’s thirst for revenge after the Democrats’ politically motivated impeachments of Donald Trump created a desire for payback considering the staggering failure in Afghanistan.
“Some people are gonna want to do it just for show, to show the base back home they’re doing something. But the great tragedy about all of it is, this is exactly what we said would happen when Democrats weaponized impeachment last time,” a Republican member of Congress told POLITICO. “The Republican base is going to demand it as soon as we get the majority, if not now … So everybody will be in a real bind.”
Republicans warned Democrats that when they began the partisan impeachment over Donald Trump’s phone call to the Ukrainian president, the left would rue the day they turned impeachment into a political football.
Instead of serving as the “break glass in case of emergency” check on a rogue president, the Democrats shifted impeachment to act as a vote of no confidence by the opposition party like exists in European parliamentary systems.
Given that it is unlikely Joe Biden seeks a second term in 2024, it will be difficult for Republicans to pass up impeaching Biden.
Republicans in Congress are furious at Biden over the Afghanistan debacle and the party’s voters are telling their elected officials that they want action in holding the administration accountable.
