Both parties are moving into the 2024 election cycle.
But Democrats got some unexpected news.
And that happened when Joe Biden uttered six words about 2024 that put a lump in every Democrat’s throat.
Joe Biden’s 2024 status is still a mystery.
Biden says he is running for re-election and the Democrats’ better-than-expected performance in the midterm elections quieted calls from inside the party for Biden to step aside.
A new USA Today/Ipsos poll following the election found 71 percent of Democrats think Joe Biden can win a second term two years from now.
Biden’t fortunes rebound with Dems. But do they know who they would be nominating?

However, Biden is still facing severe political headwinds.
Exit polls showed 67 percent of voters in the midterm elections do not want Joe Biden to run for re-election.
Polls also show Americans have big questions about the 80-year-old Biden’s ability to mentally serve as president.
Biden would turn 86 by the end of a second term and Americans cannot erase the image of Biden drifting in and out of a vegetative state during interviews from their minds.
The Biden re-election decision is not as cut and dried as Biden and his allies would like to make it seem.
At a White House event for tribal nations Biden even alluded to the uncertainty of his re-election plans.
The assembled crowd chanted “four more years” to which Biden responded, “oh, I don’t know about that.”

A recent round of Harvard/Harris polling delivers a glimpse into the hesitation of Biden and his fellow Democrats to commit to a Biden 2024 campaign.
Harvard/Harris showed Trump leading Joe Biden by two points and Biden tied with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in 2024 matchups.
A Bloomberg survey also showed a 100 percent chance of the American economy dipping into a recession sometime in the next 12 months.
Joe Biden is already running – at best – even with his top Republican rivals.
The economy cratering as Joe Biden’s inflation caused interest rate hikes would deliver a fatal blow to Biden’s 2024 prospects.
Democrats’ number one issue – and likely the only issue their voters care about – is keeping Donald Trump out of the White House for a second term.
And if it looks like Joe Biden is a bad bet in 2024 Biden will not run again.
