Joe Biden’s sinking poll numbers just absorbed another broadside.
Biden’s attempt at damage control only served to make matters worse.
Joe Biden left Americans speechless with one bald-faced lie.
The worrisome poll number for Democrats is that Americans hold a negative view of Joe Biden’s handling of the economy.
Americans always rank the economy as the number one issue every election and Biden’s terrible poll numbers of Americans’ number one issue sent Democrats into a panic about their prospects in next year’s election.
There was more bad news on the way.
Experts forecast that the economy created 500,000 jobs in September.
But when the Bureau of Labor Statistics turned in the actual report it was another debacle for Biden.
The September jobs report showed an anemic 194,000 jobs created.
This came on the heels of the August report where experts predicted 700,000 jobs created only to see the real number turn out to be a meager 235,000.
Biden tried to spin the disaster into a positive in a speech that was completely detached from reality.
Today’s report comes one day after the Labor Department found in the third quarter of this year the number of layoffs and job reductions was the lowest in this country since 1997. Overall, the unemployment report shows almost 200,000 jobs were created last month. Over 300,000 in the private sector and 26,000 in manufacturing, offset by some seasonal adjustments in education hiring. The monthly totals bounce around, but if you take a look at the trend, it’s solid.
On average, 600,000 new jobs created every month since I took office, and in three months before I got there that was one-tenth what was being created. It’s 60,000 as opposed to 600,000 jobs a month. In total, the job creation in the first eight months of my administration is nearly 5 million jobs. Jobs up, wages up unemployment down. That’s progress.
And it’s a tribute to the hard work and resilience of the American people who are battling through this pandemic. We’re going to keep their businesses afloat. Remember, today’s report is based on a survey that was taken during the week of September the 13th, not – not today, September the 13th. When Covid cases were averaging more than 150,000 per day. Since then we’ve seen the daily cases fall by more than one-third and they’re continuing to trend down. We’re continuing to make progress.
Biden tried to hang his hat on the fact that the unemployment rate dropped from 5.2 to 4.8 as an example of his economic policies creating job growth.
But this is misleading.
The unemployment rate dropped because the labor participation rate declined from 61.7 percent to 61.6 percent.
With fewer Americans working it was only natural that the unemployment rate dropped.
And that is a bad sign for the economy.
Joe Biden’s trying to argue for trillions in new socialist welfare state spending and tax increases at a time when the economy is struggling to add jobs and inflation is skyrocketing at the highest rate in decades.
This disastrous economic policy prescription is a big reason that Joe Biden’s poll numbers are trapped in a death spiral.
