Joe Biden has been a disaster for Democrats.
Many do not want to see him run for president again.
But now, Biden just made one 2024 announcement that many Democrats have been dreading to hear.
Joe Biden is determined to advance his own political career, even at the expense of his own party.
With opinion polls across the country making it crystal clear that he should not be running for a second term in office, let alone be re-elected, many Democrats have openly called for Biden to be replaced by someone else for the party’s 2024 presidential nominee.
This makes sense when one looks at the polling situation Democrats find themselves in just weeks out from the 2022 midterm elections.
The Left is on the verge of suffering from a catastrophic loss the likes of which Democrats have not seen in nearly a generation.
With both the Senate and the House of Representatives at risk of flipping, Democrats know that the only one they can blame for their own looming defeat is Joe Biden himself.
And that’s why so many on the Left are adamant that Biden should not be allowed to run again.
But Biden himself has other plans.
And he just revealed his intention to seek a second term.
NBC News reports, “President Joe Biden told the Rev. Al Sharpton that he will seek a second term in a private conversation at the White House last month, Sharpton informed his National Action Network staff in Washington later that day.
“‘I’m going to do it again,’ Biden said as he posed for a photograph in the Roosevelt Room with Sharpton, who is also an MSNBC host, according to an official of Sharpton’s National Action Network who recounted Sharpton’s description. ‘I’m going.’”
Biden’s declaration came at the worst possible time for Democrats.
Many are trying to run away from their record of supporting Biden’s disastrous agenda that has left the American economy in shambles and inflation at a 40-year high.
And now, Biden has placed himself back in the spotlight by announcing his decision to run for a second term, at the same time that his own approval rating is at rock-bottom lows.
“While Biden allies have said he will seek re-election, he has shied away from declaring it unequivocally, at least in part to avoid triggering campaign finance reporting laws. His remarks to Sharpton at the tail end of a meeting with the leaders of several of the country’s most prominent civil rights organizations represent a stronger assertion that he will be on the ballot again,” adds NBC News.
Biden’s decision to seek another term in office comes as little surprise for many, as no president since Lyndon Johnson has willingly decided not to seek another term in office despite being constitutionally eligible to. But while it does not come as a shock, it remains a depressing development for many on the Left, who had hoped for someone else to step into Biden’s position.
But now, Biden has begun the process of once again cementing his position as leader of the Democratic Party despite the party’s own opposition to his plans.
