Joe Biden got some bad news.
It came from an unexpected source.
Joe Biden just lost this major vote that will change his life forever.
Joe Biden’s long claimed to be a “devout Catholic.”
Many Americans doubted this claim and shrugged it off to be a politician trying to make himself relatable to voters.
Biden rejects Church teachings by supporting homosexual marriage and special rights for transgenders.
But Biden’s biggest rebuke of the Catholic Church is Biden’s support for abortion on demand even up until the moment of birth.
During the Republican National Convention, this became an issue when former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz blasted Biden as a “Catholic in name only.”
The Catholic Church holds the sanctity of life as a fundamental value and Biden’s support for ending babies’ lives in the womb without limit creates a conflict with the Church.
U.S. Catholic bishops sought to reassert Church doctrine as primary over earthly political desires by voting to create an instructional document recommending denying pro-abortion politicians from receiving Holy Communion at mass.
The vote was a lopsided 168 to 55 with about 75 percent in favor of drafting a document denying Biden and pro-abortion “Catholic” politicians the Eucharist.
Arlington, Virginia Bishop Michael Burbidge explained to reporters later that this was not a political statement or an endorsement of the Republican Party over the Democrat Party.
“What’s motivating us as bishops, as teachers, is the Eucharist,” Bishop Burbidge stated. “Cited throughout our discussions today were the grave concerns about the lack of belief in the real presence, the lack of people going to church, how we are going to get people back to church and that love for the Eucharist.”
“It’s not a political motivation, what’s motivating us is what’s at the heart of our teaching and faith,” Bishop Burbidge added.
After the vote a reporter asked Biden about the U.S. bishops’ recommending priests refuse to allow Biden to receive the sacrament of Communion when Biden attended mass.
Biden claimed no priest would deny him Communion.
“That’s a private matter and I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Biden told reporters.
But in the fall of 2019 a priest did refuse to allow Biden to receive Holy Communion.
“Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden,” Father Robert E. Morey of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church stated at the time. “Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that. Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”
There is a history of Catholic Church officials drawing a line when politicians reject Church teachings.
The Catholic Church also draws a red line on racism.
In 1947 the Archbishop of New Orleans excommunicated two politicians for rejecting Church teachings about loving thy neighbor with their support for segregation laws.
Joe Biden’s support for abortion is a direct rejection of one of the Catholic Church’s most sacred values.
If the Church does not stand for life it will lose all credibility when it speaks on any other issue because surrendering on defending human life will mean the Church bends its principles to fit the politics of the moment.
And that is why the vote for drafting a document explaining why pro-abortion politicians should not receive Communion received such broad support.
