Scandal is overtaking Joe Biden’s administration.
Now there could be serious repercussions.
Joe Biden heard the four words that just sealed his fate on impeachment.
ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC completely ignored covering Joe Biden’s July 23 phone call with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani where Biden told Ghani to lie to the public about the state of the fight against the Taliban.
Reuters’ initial report about the transcript and audio recording of the call attracted attention because Biden begging Ghani to falsely claim the fight against the Taliban was underway undercut Biden’s later claim that no one could have predicted that the Taliban would sweep into power so quickly.
But another offer Biden made initially flew under the radar but could end up part of an impeachment inquiry.
Joe Biden offered American air support if President Ghani would lie to the public and present a positive – but false – picture of the fight against the Taliban.
“In the call, Biden offered aid if Ghani could publicly project he had a plan to control the spiraling situation in Afghanistan. ‘We will continue to provide close air support, if we know what the plan is,’ Biden said. Days before the call, the U.S. carried out air strikes to support Afghan security forces, a move the Taliban said was in violation of the Doha peace agreement,” Reuters reported.
That led Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn – who has already called for Biden’s impeachment – to declare that Biden offered a “quid pro quo” of American air strikes in exchange for public lies about the Afghan army’s status against the Taliban.
“Joe Biden asked Afghanistan’s President to lie in exchange for U.S. military support. That’s quid pro quo,” Blackburn posted on Twitter.
Democrats’ false claims that Donald Trump offered quid pro quo to the Ukrainian president to unfreeze military aid in exchange for cooperation in investigating the Biden family’s corruption became the foundation of the first impeachment hoax against President Trump.
New York Congresswoman Claudia Tenney responded that Biden clearly offered a bribe of American air support in exchange for the Afghan president lying to the public about Biden’s Afghan policy succeeding when it was really failing.
“The attempt to bribe the former Pres. of Afghanistan w/ military support is clearly impeachable. We should investigate the improper dialogue w/ Pres. Ghani and why the Biden refused to present the drawdown of troops to the Congress in compliance with Section 1215 of the NDAA,” Tenney wrote.
Georgia Congressman Jody Hice called the call “criminal” because Biden knew the Taliban would take over yet still did not evacuate American citizens until Kabul fell.
“According to a phone call with Afghan President Ghani, President Biden KNEW the Taliban would take over. In spite of knowing the outcome, he withdrew our troops… destroying a nation and abandoning US citizens. Why is this not criminal?” Hice asked.
Biden knowing the Afghan army could not hold off the Taliban and bribing the Afghan president to lie became the focus of calls to impeach Biden due to the fact Biden ended up deserting American citizens in a Taliban stronghold.
Thousands of American citizens did not evacuate Afghanistan until after the Taliban seized control.
Biden blamed these Americans for not responding to emails about evacuation.
But at the same time Biden and the Afghan army lied to the public about the ability to hold off the Taliban despite knowing full well the effort was futile.
Americans may have stayed behind because of the lies Biden attempted to bribe the Afghan president to tell.
Because Americans stayed behind, Biden deployed 6,000 American troops to the Kabul airport to try and mitigate the chaotic situation and evacuate American citizens and Afghan allies.
ISIS terrorists murdered 13 of these troops in a suicide bombing after Biden’s haphazard planning created the opening for an attack.
Biden offering a quid pro quo to the Afghan president did not just deceive the public.
It may have lulled Americans in Afghanistan into a false sense of security about how much time they had to leave the country which then resulted in bedlam as there was a mad dash by Americans and Afghans to the airport to escape Taliban control.
That commotion provided the environment for a deadly terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 13 American heroes.
And now Republicans believe Biden’s quid pro quo of air support for public lies on the part of the Afghan president could become part of an impeachment inquiry.
