Joe Biden suffered through the most difficult days of his presidency.
The entire administration is reeling from the fiasco in Afghanistan.
Jen Psaki lost her cool over one word spoken by Fox News.
The Biden administration deserted thousands of Americans – no one knows the exact number because the administration refuses to say – behind Taliban checkpoints in Afghanistan by pulling the military out first.
Now the administration engaged in a desperate race against time to try and evacuate Americans before the August 31 deadline to remove U.S. military forces from Afghanistan.
During a briefing, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked press secretary Jen Psaki about the administration stranding Americans and if Joe Biden regretted withdrawing all military personnel from Afghanistan before securing the safe evacuation of American citizens.
“Does the president have a sense that most of the criticism is not of leaving Afghanistan. It’s the way that he has ordered it to happen by pulling the troops before getting these Americans who are now stranded,” Doocy added. “Does he have a sense of that?”
Psaki fumed at the question and claimed it was “irresponsible” to state the administration left Americans stranded in Afghanistan.
“First of all, I think it’s irresponsible to say ‘Americans are stranded.’ They are not,” Psaki ranted. “We are committed to bringing Americans who want to come home, home. We are in touch with them via phone, via text, via email, via any way that we can possibly reach Americans to get them home if they want to return home.”
When Doocy pressed further Psaki shot back essentially calling Doocy a liar.
“I’m just calling you out for saying that we are stranding Americans in Afghanistan when we have been very clear that we are not leaving Americans who want to return home, we are going to bring them home and I think that’s important for the American public to hear and understand,” Psaki responded.
But journalists across the political spectrum called out Psaki for not telling the truth.
Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst – who reported on the ground in Afghanistan – explained that Psaki denied reality.
“Americans are stranded in Afghanistan. Denying this fact is ignoring reality,” Yingst stated.
Even CNN’s left-wing host Jake Tapper criticized Psaki.
Tapper tried to soften the criticism of his fellow liberals by making excuses for Psaki’s comments claiming everyone in the administration was working long hours.
But even Tapper conceded that Psaki’s comments did not match the facts on the ground for Americans remaining in Afghanistan.
“I understand that people are working long hours in the White House, the National Security Council, State Department, Pentagon, and over in Kabul to get Americans out of that country. And I understand the White House wanting to reassure the nation that all Americans will ultimately be evacuated,” Tapper began.
“But there are no doubt Americans who feel stranded in Afghanistan right now,” Tapper added.
The poorly planned and executed withdrawal from Afghanistan created a crisis of competence surrounding the Biden administration.
Jen Psaki’s job is to push back on criticism and present the best face possible on the administration’s policies.
But even the administration’s allies in the corporate media could not defend this one.
