The wheels are already falling off for Joe Biden’s administration.
Crises are multiplying and Joe Biden looks lost.
And now Jen Psaki had some bad news for Joe Biden that is going to cost him dearly.
Joe Biden is attracting a lot of comparisons to Jimmy Carter.
That is never good for a president.
The latest malaise to befall America on Biden’s watch is the return of 1970s-style gas shortages and lines at the pump.
Hackers shutdown the Colonial Pipeline—which is a major source of energy on the East Coast—in a ransomware attack as a part of scheme to shake the energy company down for money.
The Biden administration attempted to deflect blame from the fact that the administration was asleep at the switch while hackers crippled the American energy supply by falsely claiming there was no crisis and all was well.
At the White House press briefing, Jen Psaki claimed without citing any evidence that “at this point in time, I would just reiterate: We don’t see a supply issue.”
This was an easily disproved lie as local reporters across the Southeast documented the chaos inducing gas shortages.
“This gas station in Robbinsville is all out of gas. Clerk said manager told her it could be five days before they have gas again. Says phone has been ringing off the hook of people calling around to find gas,” North Carolina’s WLOS reporter Caitlyn Penter wrote on social media.
“This is crazy. I stopped for gas just now having no idea what was happening. It’s out. People here told me they’d been to other stations and found the same.” WSOC9 reporter Greg Suskin posted on Twitter about gas shortages in South Carolina. “Dumb luck for sure, but I got the very last tank of gas at Murphy Express on Hwy 161. That’s no exaggeration either. An employee stuck the ‘out of gas’ sign on my pump while I was still filling my truck. The place quickly cleared out.”
The overwhelming force of the evidence forced Psaki to admit she was wrong about there being no gas shortages.
“We are monitoring supply shortages in parts of the Southeast and are evaluating every action the Administration can take to mitigate the impact as much as possible,” Psaki wrote in a subsequent press statement.
Ronald Reagan crushed Jimmy Carter in the 1980 election after Carter’s policies crushed the economy through gas shortages and inflation.
Right now, inflation is skyrocketing and it’s being paired with gas shortages.
That is creating a poisonous political environment as Biden moves out of the honeymoon phase of his first 100 days.
And Democrats could pay a steep political price for Biden’s failures.
