Hillary Clinton is back.
The reason why is not welcome news for Democrats.
Hillary Clinton is about to make a big career move that no Democrat saw coming.
An Associated Press poll showed 70 percent of Americans do not want to see Joe Biden run for re-election.
Other polls show a plurality of Democrats want to see someone else as the nominee in 2024.
And the latest CNN poll showed just 41 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s job as president with a pitiful 15 percent strongly approving.
In addition, a USA Today/Suffolk University poll showed only 28 percent of Americans approve of Kamala Harris as vice president.
Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton sees the public viewing the 79-year-old Biden as incompetent and in severe cognitive decline and Kamala Harris as the most unpopular national political figure in America.
That’s why Clinton keeps tiptoeing towards a third presidential campaign.
Clinton began with a media tour where Clinton attacked Trump as a threat to democracy and also warning that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the “Squad” would drive Democrats into a ditch by embracing socialism.
“I think that it is a time for some careful thinking about what wins elections, and not just in deep-blue districts where a Democrat and a liberal Democrat, or so-called progressive Democrat, is going to win,” Clinton stated. “I understand why people want to argue for their priorities. That’s what they believe they were elected to do.”
To many political observers Clinton taking on both Trump and the “Squad” looked like a replay of Bill Clinton’s famous strategy of “triangulation” from the mid-1990s.
Clinton then hosted campaign events for Democrats running for office such as Ohio Democrat Senate candidate Tim Ryan.
Now Clinton is taking the final step any politician attempting a comeback takes.
And that is delivering high-profile public speeches.
Clinton just agreed to keynote the New York State Democratic Party political convention.
“She’s beloved by the mainstream members of the Democratic Party and her popularity is likely higher than that of President Biden. It’s good for her because it keeps her relevant and her appearance is likely meant to galvanize the party and the audience,” a source in New York politics told CNBC.
Chief of staff to the chair of the New York State Democratic Party Chris Melnyczuk tried to downplay the Clinton speech in order not to offend Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
“We’ve reached out to a number of people to speak and, you know, we’re waiting back on confirmation from a number of people. So there are a few things in the works,” Melnyczuk said in an interview with CNBC. “We’ve reached out to a number of folks, we’re not going to say who we’ve reached out to.”
Melnyczuk can try to spin Clinton speaking at the New York State Democratic Party Convention as no big deal.
But everyone can see what is going on.
Hillary Clinton sees Joe Biden stepping down after one term and Kamala Harris as no competition.
And that means Hillary Clinton will make one more White House bid in 2024 to claim the presidency, which Clinton somehow thinks she is entitled to as her birthright.
